I have been a big fan of of Tool for a long time amd I have seen them live a number of time and just love his and the bands style. I obviously realize that having his guitar won’t make me play like him. Knowing he chose the art and the fact it really meshes with the bands vib is super cool.
The second guitar looks like Molly Hatchet’s “Beatin’ the Odds” album cover. Original artist is Frank Frazetta
Love Frank’s artwork did some awesome Album covers in the 70’s and 80’s. That’s what the younger generation is missing. Awesome album covers.
Molly Hatchet had some of the absolute best album art of that era.
I remember buying Flirtin’ With Disaster on cassette having never heard a single note from them before solely due to the cover art.
I only discovered TOOL about 6 years ago but now have all but one of their albums on vinyl, which took me ages to get at sensible prices and decent SQ. Their music is great and innovative with great depth and complexity.
It is Frazetta’s work. I was talking to someone who said he contacted Franks daughter who made this one avalible to him for the project.
My uncle had a art book of his when I was a kid, I remember I got in trouble by my grandmother looking at it during a holiday. She didnt care about the hacked up bodies littering the ground, or heads on stakes. No, it was the scantly dressed warrior women and slave girls that I had paused too long on.
I am glad you found them, there is a lot to like. Adam Jones was a classically trained violinist before picking up the guitar very humble.
While not guitar related, the purcussion and driving force behind the rythem of the band, Danny Carey is probably one of the best drummers recording and touring today IMO. I have listened to some of the most primer percussionists rave about him, and they have become mystified trying to emulate some of his most difficult work. Here is cool video that blows most people away.
