As @Jamolay said, it’s probably due to how your arm rests on your guitar.
When I play, only the lower part of my right arm touches the guitar and my right hand touches the bridge to do the palm muting of the bass strings.

'Thank you Wim. This seems to have solve my problem… I was fingerstyling with the crease of my elbow holding down the guitar and that was causing the numb fingers

What I sometimes experience when learning a new fingerstyle song is fatigue in my fretting hand.
Especially if I hold the same chord with my fretting hand for a long time while practising a challenging picking pattern.
I have learned not to overdo it and to take frequent breaks during a practice session.
