Hi,
Watching the tutorial by Justin and he goes 5567 and then 4446 on bars 2&3 etc but on the tab notes, he leaves off the 7 and then the 6 why? Can you play it as per the tabs or better as per his instruction.
Hi guys, I’ve just started learning Albatross and wondering if anyone can give me tips on getting the right tone on guitar. I’m dialling back on my tone knob but any tips on amp settings would be hugely appreciated. I have a Fender Mustang LT25 which gives me loads (too many) of options and it’s easy to get lost in it all. Thanks Lin
The Internet is your friend here. You will find alot of information with a simple search. Try ChatGPT/Perplexity etc as start. Research, and adjust to suit your gear/setup.
Cheers Shane
I’ll assume ya mean xx7655 and xx6444. Versus xx765x or xx644x (I don’t have Justin’s tabs). Imho I think it needs the high E string in play (especially for the Emaj7) as if I remember right, the low E being played changes this barre A and Barre G#m into Emaj7 for the G#m and A/E for the A. Adding that E is what makes the change of the chord per what I understand from Justin’s video. fwiw, I drone the low E when I play it by myself to get the Emaj7 and A/E feel. I do play the top 4 strings w/ my drone low E. So what I play is ox7655 (or sometimes ox765x) and ox6444. So watching Justin, that A/E seems to be missing the high E. the Emaj7 has the high E note.
fwiw, I’ve been wanting to discuss this since you posted it so I’ve been thinking about this question for a while. imho it’s that low E being played that changes the A and G#m into Emaj7 and A/E.
Disclaimer. I learned this song from a tab off the www. Not Justins lesson (I didn’t know he had a lesson on it). The tabs I learned from mostly follow the way Justin teaches it though.
I’ve no insight other than what I like to hear. Personally I never attempt to get an exact tone per the record. I always fail to do that hence I go for what I think sounds about right to me.
So I ain’t got any modeler amps, so can’t enlighten you there. But for my plain 'ol combos, I leave them about where I always run the tone stacks. Pretty much @ 5 for b/m/t. Sometimes I may pull the mid down a bit to though.
I usually have both tone and vol. on the guitar @ around 5. The way I hear that song is with a darker tone (like a les paul, not a tele). Also a very clean tone. So introduce zero overdrive. Get your amp and clean as clean can be.
I also run a bit of reverb on my amp too. I would think this is likely incorrect for the song though. fwiw, sometimes when I play this song, along with my added reverb, I’ll add some very slight delay and have a tremolo on that is set slow and on the weaker side. I just like the way that sounds. Incorrect or not. Since I never try to exactly reproduce anyones tone, I can introduce whatever tones I want. This makes this song, me playing a rendition of a Fleetwood Mac song.
Just my 2 cent.
Have fun with this song. It really is fun to play.
Lastly, try it on acoustic. That works too. ![]()
