Amp wanted for Martin steel string guitar

May hold off on the mic for a while. Maybe Iā€™ll go with the duct tape suggestion & put it over my mouth!

I canā€™t imagine a space smaller than mine. I have a 3ā€™ wide desk thatā€™s about 2 1/2ā€™ deep. EVERYTHING goes on there or it doesnā€™t go anywhere! And, my computer is right in the middle! Itā€™s an antique as is my guitar playing chair, but I make doo!!!
I can set the amp on the floor & by the plug-in end of the guitar & play away!

If it has a reverb on it, does that mean it has a peddle to control it?

no. itā€™s just an adjusting knob.

my Champion 40 amp, which doesnā€™t sound as nice for acoustic instruments, has 2 channels for the guitar. a ā€œcleanā€ channel and one for the effects. It has a button on it to switch between those channels. there is an optional footswitch to change the channels, but thatā€™s it. it does not have a mic circuit like the acoustasonic amps.

fancier amps often have more control over the settings via footswitches, but youā€™ll pay for that.

you could also just get a vocal effects pedal.

Oh my goodness, thereā€™s hope for my 81 year old voice! Hallelujah!!!

Hi Nancy!

I have the Fender Acoustic 100 - itā€™s got 2 inputs for guitar & mic & a BUNCH of built-in effects.

I really like it - itā€™s pretty versatile & itā€™s not real bigā€¦

  • they sell a dust cover that fits it perfectly!

Good luck!

Tod

Edit: I forgot to mention that itā€™s about 17 lbs - so not a beast to carry & itā€™s equipped with bluetooth so you can play music through it & strum along with your Martin!

Thank u for the input. :

TC Helicon PlayAcoustic would be worth checking out.

Will sit easily on a small desk.

:sunglasses:

Is there a headset type mic that plugs into the amp? Iā€™d rather use one of those instead of a stand alone mic.

I guess so there are headset mics and wireless etc but I am not a micologist sorry

You can get lavalier mics and headset mics that are designed for stage use. Iā€™ve used a few myself. They arenā€™t the best quality, but may be good enough for your purposes.

Be very careful on the connectors. These are often designed for wireless stage systems and may have non-standard plugs. You will almost certainly need some sort of adaptor to connect it to an audio interface or amp.

Also, you may need an extension cable as the cables tend to only be long enough to connect to a wireless belt pack.

Cheers,

Keith

Has anyone ever used a Kremona KNA-1 Acoustic pickup? Or, A KNA Pickups SG-1 Portable Piezo?
I found a used Fishman Matrix Infinity VT Acoustic Pickup-Narrow Saddle for a great price, but itā€™s $150 at Guitar Center to have it installed.
I didnā€™t realize I didnā€™t have a pickup to go into an amp!!!

Strange seems like itā€™s an option on a $3k guitarā€¦

fwiw.
I got me one acoustic/electric guitar. Epiphone Dr-500MCE. I donā€™t play it often plugged in, but I do once in a while. Since I only do that once in a while I just plug into my regular ā€˜ol amps. Seems to work just fine granted if I start cranking it I got feed back issues. But then again, I sit within 3ā€™-6ā€™ of a amp I may plug into. The amp amplifies my acoustic plenty above acoustic volume prior to feedback.

Perhaps think about this. The Beatles played a bunch of songs with acoustic/electric on them. Iā€™ve read they just plugged in to their voxā€™sā€¦ If it worked for themā€¦ perhaps, no special amp needed. Granted, they didnā€™t have specific amps for acoustic back then. But they did seem to get by with what was available.

Maybe another option, if ya got a audio interface. Iā€™ve plugged my acoustic straight into that and then monitor it back on my stereo (or monitor speakers if thatā€™s what ya got). This works too with the caveat that feedback comes on pretty quick through the interface. Still, itā€™s louder than the acoustic by itself when running this way too.

I mean you can plug it into a regular guitar amp if you have one.

But the OP doesnt, and specifically wants acoustic and vocals

I am so totally confused now.
I visited Guitar Center yesterday & discovered I have NO pickup inside my guitar; Iā€™m trying to not overspend because between the pickup & amp, Iā€™ll pretty much be my only audience. Remember, Iā€™m 81 years old! (Maybe Iā€™ll play at Senior Living places, who knows!)
Iā€™d like to also have a mic that doesnā€™t have to have a stand (limited space) & fits on my head (not earphones) to sing into. Eventually, Iā€™d like to be able to attach a foot pedal pitch control device to it.
Iā€™m starting off with a Martin D-28 that I bought 40 years ago.

Then my comment is rendered irrelevant. Was just trying to help.
Iā€™ll read the thread closer next time I post a comment as to not waste folks time. My sincerest apologies.

Aha that will be why! I think they still do the D-28 without electronics unless specified.

Honestly not sure what your best option is now there are many pickups you can fit to acoustic guitars or just use a mic for both voice and guitar.
