Andrius Mamontovas - Jūreivio Daina (Cover)

This will probably be the last song for a while (decided to practice Iron Man as per tabs, and it will take as minimum a couple of weeks), so I decided to do something fairly simple. The song is a cover of a local Lithuanian artist Andrius Mamontovas, which he created in the nine-ties, and it’s called “Jūreivio Daina” (Sailor’s Song). And the most simplistic form of it is played by plucking the base note of a chord and then the highest three strings of a chord twice; but decided to even more simplify it a bit and first strum the thickest two or three and then go quick with down up. The song structure is also quite simple, for the most part you just play Am Am E E Am, and then the chorus goes Dm Am E and Am once strummed. And then repeat everything over-and-over again.

The lyrics of the song, if anyone’s interested:

I am such a lonely young sailor,
Dragging my feet in this unfamiliar town.
Looking for a pub to moisten my tongue,
Cause I was loved by no one.

I smoke only the strongest tobacco,
I don’t care, if it means my end.
And I laugh at my fortune,
Cause I was loved by no one.

And here are those doors, where the barkeep will pour me my wine,
Where songs and clashing of glasses are heard.
And I also will clang those glasses with others,
Cause I was loved by no one.

I enter that place,
Gaze at all the women out there.
Then I sit at the corner,
Cause I was loved by no one.

When one of those girls approach me,
I feel her passionate hands.
Then I pour myself another wine cup,
Cause I was loved by no one.

She asks me: “Brother, what are you searching for here?
Why are you punishing yourself such?”
I answer her that I’m content,
Cause I was loved by no one.

She proposes that we take a walk,
I know where she will take me.
I accept, even though it is not necessary,
Cause I was loved by no one.

This has happened hundreds of times,
She says: “I want you”.
And I give her the money upfront,
Cause I was loved by no one.

When I awake, through the hotel window
I see the sails of my ship.
I leave her without saying a word,
Cause I was loved by no one.

I am such a lonely young sailor,
Dragging my feet in this unfamiliar town.
Looking for a pub to moisten my tongue,
Cause I was loved by no one.
Cause I was loved by no one.
Cause I was loved by no one.
Cause I was loved by no one.

Oh, for sure…

An interesting song Aurimas. Thanks for sharing,.

Not sure what was going on though, was something bouncing as you were recording it? A very distracting sound kept appearing when you were playing.

Yeah, must be the flannel’s cuff-links scraping on the body of the guitar… in the future will upload a clean version.
