My job is sending me to Finland next week. I’ll be staying in Kouvola, but I should have time to take a train to Helsinki for a day of sightseeing.
Any suggestions for some “must-see” things while I’m there (guitar-related or not)? Any popular “must-try” food I should try? I’ll eat just about anything, and like to taste the local foods whenever I travel.
Also, any tips on cultural norms in Finland that an American tourist should know?
Also, according to my wife who visited Helsinki in December a few years ago, Helsinki pretty much shuts at 7pm, so make sure you get your sightseeing in during the day.
I recall something like Suommenlina… a war site on a small island very close to Helsinki …Nicole am I remembering well @JokuMuu ?
And from Helsinki you can take a boat to Tallin , which is Estonia’s capital and has a very nice medieval historical center…if I remember well the boat’s journey is something like 3 hours only…
And the reindeer…in Finland they eat reindeers…oh poor Santa!
