Artem - Before & After BLIM Class 1

I procrastinated on editing for a bit, but better late than never

My before & after have a bit of a different format. At the end of each month of BLIM (and before the first month), I would sit down, improvise over the same jam track, and record myself. Now, having 7 recordings over the same jam track, I glued all of them together to get a single “progression” recording. And here it is - Stream BLIM Full Progress by Artem Platonov | Listen online for free on SoundCloud.

Here’s how it works chronologically:

  • Chorus 1 - before the course
  • Chorus 2 - after month 1
  • Chorus 3 - after month 2
  • Chorus 4 - after month 3
  • Chorus 5 - after month 4
  • Chorus 6 - after month 5
  • Chorus 7+ - after the course

Sorry for not having the video to go with it - I wanted to make the recording process as simple as possible to make sure that I would actually do it every month

I had an absolute blast with the course and would highly recommend it. It is definitely the best online music course I have done so far, and I did quite a few (I’ve been a self-taught piano, harmonica, and guitar player for ~7 years). Huge thanks to Justin, Richard, Fanny, the rest of the JustinGuitar crew, my BLIM 1 classmates, and the wonderful community that motivates me to keep learning every day

I think these progress compilations are the the best things one can give to current (and future) Blimmers. It gives me hope! Thank you

I listened to this the other night and was very inspired by your progress. It gave me a boost and its so nice to know there are others that went through it before me. I know that the hard work I am doing right now early in the second unit is really going to pay off. Thanks for posting this and taking the time to do it.

You guys and gal who went through the course that first time. I realize, you trail blazers did not have other students to look toward for advice and questions like we do. We are really lucky. So again thank you for this unique prospective.

Hi Artem ,
I had listened to it before but had completely forgotten to write down how much I like it :sunglasses:   … great idea :sunglasses: … it took a while before I realized it, but after listening … reading what you say and listening again, the penny dropped

Greetings

Hey Artem, I’ve seen your playing on open mics before. Excellent work. I was most impressed with your various recordings marking your progress during BLIM. It was a great inspiration and help to me. I saw remarkable progress between your 1st and 2nd postings. Also between 4 and 5. By posting 5, I was blasting along with you on my harmonica and I really enjoyed it. I can tell you felt the vibes while playing. Posting 6 showed amazing progress on smooth string bends I thought, and 7 as well showed more improvement. It was great of you to record those and post them for others to listen to, especially indicating you did them all in 1 take, without sheet music of any kind, and let it rip. Great job! Amazing guitar playing. I played the harmonica along thru postings 6 and 7 as well after hearing how well you played at the onset of each one. I’m curious, which level guitar were you in when you decided to take the BLIM course? I’m in the middle of level 3, and I’m still a bit unsure as to whether I am ready or not for this course, but I will definitely sign up once I feel ready. I’m this close… Thanks again, it was a blast hearing you play! Happy holidays!!
