I thought this was an amusing article. Paul Simon was in town looking for this bass player and he’s working in a garage and thinking “Who’s Paul Simon?”.
Depending on which day I’m asked, I’d say Bakithi is my favourite bass player. I can get close to his Graceland sound on my fretless jazz bass, but I didn’t realise there was reverb on the bass. I do have a reverb pedal that I’m not using as I prefer the ones on my guitar amp, so may well put it on my bass board and see how it sounds.
