Basket Case

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, if not please could one of you kind mods please move it for me?

On the tab for Basket case by Green Day, it looks like the chords are incorrect on the chords section but correct on the tabs section. I’ve included a screenshot of the chords section, just in case anyone would like to take a mooch. In the lesson it say’s it is E5, B5, C#5, G#5 and so on. Thanks.

Good spot Stefan. Maybe this is the Billy Joe campfire version ?

But I just noticed the chords are for Stuck In The Middle With You, unless this is the alternate lyrics campfire version.

Or we have a bigger issue ?

I’ll leave Stuck in the middle, for comedy value. Head of the class for you Mr Jenner. :1st_place_medal:

Well, the song is in the key of Eb to be precise, so you have three options:

  1. Down tune the guitar to E flat and play it in E, like the lesson.

  2. Keep the guitar in E standard tuning and use a capo at the first fret. Now play it in D, like the chord chart.

  3. Keep the guitar in E standard tuning and don’t use a capo. If you don’t use open strings or open chords, and stick to power chords, than you can play it in Eb.

Yes Jeff but that does not explain the tab discrepancy that Stefan is flagging here.

True. I’ve seen discrepancies on other songs too. Technically it’s not wrong, but I agree it can cause confusion. Ideally the chord section should specify the tuning and capo if applicable.
