On the tab for Basket case by Green Day, it looks like the chords are incorrect on the chords section but correct on the tabs section. I’ve included a screenshot of the chords section, just in case anyone would like to take a mooch. In the lesson it say’s it is E5, B5, C#5, G#5 and so on. Thanks.
Well, the song is in the key of Eb to be precise, so you have three options:
Down tune the guitar to E flat and play it in E, like the lesson.
Keep the guitar in E standard tuning and use a capo at the first fret. Now play it in D, like the chord chart.
Keep the guitar in E standard tuning and don’t use a capo. If you don’t use open strings or open chords, and stick to power chords, than you can play it in Eb.
True. I’ve seen discrepancies on other songs too. Technically it’s not wrong, but I agree it can cause confusion. Ideally the chord section should specify the tuning and capo if applicable.
