Be Bop A Lula. Enjoy. Normally, I play basketball on Friday mornings, but, since I’ve been dealing with a bit of a health issue lately, how about playing a little guitar.
I’ve been taking some online guitar lessons at here about a year & I finished Grade 1. The challenge before moving on to the next grade was to learn 5 songs that I could play & sing from memory. I found this incredibly difficult because I usually play with a chord sheet in front of me. So . . . here is song 1 of 5. Enjoy! Hopefully!
Backup vocals are by Crumb. He is one of our granddogs who is hanging our with us for a little while and belongs to our son Justin Haynes.

Years ago there was a 14 year old boy that heard this song and loved it. He saved up his money for months. Finally, he took the bus downtown, went to the record shop, and bought a 45 with Be Bop A Lula on it. It was the 1st record he ever bought. His name was Paul McCartney.
Hi Robert - Welcome! that’s a very impressive entrance to the community. Great performance all round
Great first post. I am glad you found the community site. Its fantastic that you are singing and playing. That makes it a song and not just music.
Keep up the great work and I look forward to seeing your posts.
Well, that was a very impressive entrance, well done, Robert and welcome to the community, cheers HEC
Hello Robert & Welcome!!!
Wow! I am impressed by your Grade 1 effort!!! Good strumming, string muting, vocals were enjoyable & your flourish at the end was really good! Only critique I can offer is to work on timing, maybe some metronome practice… but that’s very minor! This was a good & enjoyable song!!!
Keep up the good effort & thanks for sharing!
Tod from New Mexico
P.S. Better sign your backup vocalist to a contract so you don’t lose him to another band!!!
Welcome Robert now that’s the kind of music I like hope to see more like that good old Rock n Roll must learn that myself !!!
well just had a play along to the video using power chords and a shuffle rhythm worked well together although I did use a B power chord instead of the B7
Wow, welcome to the Community, Robert. Super performance to cement Grade 1. Had a great feel, sense of fun, with guitar and vocal sounding good. Keep on keeping on.
It is not obligatory but we love to get to know each other here, so a short intro covering some personal background, guitar history, and your learning goals would be great. You can post that here: Community Hub > Introduce yourself ...
Welcome here Robert , and what a first post
Grade 1 is done with a big shiny sticker from the teacher
I wish you a lot of fun
Greetings,Rogier
Wow Robert, what a great performance, and very entertaining, love the backing vocals, nearly in tune as well. Looking forward to hearing the other 4 songs.
Nice way to make an entrance. More Crumb.
