"Blackbird"

This was a cool song to learn, kinda tricky though😁

Lovely playing and what a voice of an angel. Loving the improv in the middle. Top class.

Thank you!

Agreed! As I try to play that one too so I think I know where your coming from. Difference being, you can sing, and I can’t.

You covered that great Sonyal.
Perhaps there were a mistake here or there, but you just kept it going. Very good.

I also liked that it’s just you doing that. You didn’t rely on anything other than you. That’s really hard to do, I think. And you did very good at it. ā€˜You’ made music!

I also liked the way you added your own flavor to the song. Via singing, and via guitar. Nice touch. It was only a little of your touch though, you left the song intact. imho, your heading the same direction as I do with covers that I do. While the cover ain’t perfect, it represents the song very well.

I liked the tones you had for your guitar too. Don’t know if you were playing through a amp, but it came out very good. It seemed you didn’t use guitar effects and I like that. You didn’t cover yourself up with fancy wizardry of high tech. Love it!
If I have any comment on your playing of this song it’d be. Go after that open G string that sounds near every beat throughout the song. I think I learned that from Justin’s lesson on this song.
As you know, there is that beat sounded throughout. I always thought it was foot tapping. But lately I’m wondering if it’s not that open G string that is setting tempo. fwiw, sounding that G string throughout is hard to do, I think.

Also, the balance between your vocal and the guitar was right on too.

Lastly, you sing good! I’m envious.

You did Good.
I enjoyed your video, thanks for sharing with us.

edit, one last comment. Nice touch doing that electric too. Proof, just because it was done acoustic originally, don’t mean you (or me) have to do it that way. Just more of ā€˜your’ touch. Nice.

I really enjoyed this, Sonyal, and I am not a Beatles fan. I especially liked the middle part which sounded more Sonyal and less Beatles :musical_notes:

Will you keep working on the song?

Really nicely played Sonyal! You started out a bit hesitant, but grew into the song all the way through. I love your voice.

I don’t think I’ve heard a better vocal of this song. Wonderful. Your guitar part is different on the electric then the more typical acoustic accompaniment would have been, but certainly good enough to make an interesting difference. That voice…do you take requests!

This is great feedback, thanks. I recently got an Ibanez acoustic but I don’t yet have the chops for it. I started out practicing this song on it but all the calluses that had gone away from when I first started playing electric guitar came back along with new ones on my pinky finger especially with this song. Also my wrist hurt quite a bit playing this song even with getting the action lowered (it wasn’t far off from whats typical). My amp has a ā€œslim acousticā€ preset that I used for this song in an attempt to have it sound a little more like the original sound.

Thank you. Yes, I plan to incorporate it in my daily practice so I can get more precise and keep the finger strength and dexterity that it provided me with.

Thank you for listening!

What a nice compliment, thank you! I’m always looking for new songs to learn. Its what keeps me going. I have a list that I keep adding to. Some are songs that I already know and love to sing and some I’m not familiar with at all but sound like they would be interesting to play:)

well…I’m listening to a lot of Ella singing Cole Porter: I’m particularly taken by All Through The Night, maybe not the usual suspect. Been thinking how on earth could it be tackled.

Nice work, Sonyal!

ā€˜Blackbird’ is one of my Dreamer songs… haven’t even attempted it yet and I love that you’ve really done well after your relatively short time playing guitar!!! Good on you!!!
I’m looking forward to hearing your next song!
