Bleach Black Devotion

Hi All,

Been much too long since we posted anything. Finally we’ve started messing with some new stuff for our new project; Bleach Black Devotion.

The title track recently got played on BBC Introducing. I tried to get a plug in for Justin’s site, but they ended up getting confused and credited him as part of us. Not that we’d mind - but maybe J would.
His latest newsletter did say he wanted to get back his creative mojo…

Anyway, this is the tune that was played should anyone be interested:

All the best.

Digger & Katja

Original broadcast can be found here for a few days. Starts around 37.52:

The Comfortably Strange - Bleach Black Devotion (BBC Introducing)

Bleach Black Devotion

You looked like a million stars
Just falling in and out of bars
You held me close in your embrace
I don’t know you looked at me

Then oh
Where did you go?
Somewhere out there
Baby, I know you

I - I’m seeing you die,
We’ll make a new life
Cos’ it’s tearing me down
I Want your light
The flame in your eyes
Won’t let you go

You’ve been timing out - too far
Crashing down and wearing scars
And I don’t blame, just pray out loud
Still you drag your ball around

Then oh
Where did you go?
Somewhere out there
There’s nothing to hold you

But I - I’m seeing you die,
We’ll make a new life
Cos’ it’s tearing me down
I Want your light
The flame in your eyes
Won’t let you go

Stop

I will bleach you clean
Your heart took over me
And all you’ll ever feel
Is all pain fall away
I will bleach you clean
Your heart took over me
And all you’ll ever feel
Is all pain fall away

I - I’m seeing you die,
We’ll make a new life
Cos’ It’s tearing me down
I Want your light
The flame in your eyes
Can’t let you go
I Want your light
The flame in your eyes
Won’t let you go
I’m Till you die
Where you go
When you call

Wow, although I dont know exactly what the “introducing” part is probobly a show, I do know what the BBC is. I am sure you guys put in a lot of hard work, it sounds like it. Thats way awesome. This sounds really good and it gives me inspiration. Thank you so much for sharing.

Next level stuff as usual Stephen and Katja. Always enjoy it when you stop by to share with us your latest songs. Though you should have gave us a prompt when you were due to be played on BBC introducing :winking_face_with_tongue:

Great to hear from you again, Digger. Love the song, Katja’s gorgeous breathy vocal, guitar tones, superb production. Bravo on the BBC Intro.

Absolutely phenomenal guys! I wish you could teach me to write songs like that

Great to hear another new song project from you - it’s always a pleasure. Being German, I had to look up BBC Introducing, seems to be a project of discovering new music and bands regionally and to give them a broader channel on BBC?
Happy for you you got played there!

A very welcome return to you both.
My favourtie part … the atmospheric arpeggiated guitar. Simple and really effective. Overall another great song for Comfortably Strange.

Wow I loved that and it is nice to meet you guys thank you so much for posting it gives us a lot of inspiration cheers Hec

Hi All,

Thanks for checking out.

@Helen0609 Katja is from Germany also. Like some of the other collabs in the forum we put our stuff together online - dropbox on the like. Indeed, BBC Introducing has various levels: regional - which we get played on every so often. Then you can progress to radio 6 and 1 and such. Some famous performing artists have gone that route. I believe Florence and the Machine may have started out on Introducing.

@Richard_close2u Richard, did your lad’s band start out this way? Did they play the Introducing stage at a festival, or am I dreaming that?

@twistor59 - Phil, if we can do it, anyone can. The one thing I’ve learned is not to be too precious of anything. Write loads and don’t be afraid to dump it. These days we’ll write something, leave it a while and see when we come back to it if it still sounds like that “the greatest thing we’ve ever done.” It rarely is, but usually things still sound okay to us - though I have lots of scrap ends that were once “great” but later became “what was I thinking.”

Got a few few new ideas on the go - some quite heavy for us - so will share when they’re ready. We’ve revisited a song we first posted here about 10 years (or so) ago.

Thanks everyone for the kind words.

Good recall.
They played both Leeds and Reading Introducing Stages a few years ago.
They’re still doing their thing. Entirely independent with no label etc. Releasing music, touring UK and Europe two-three times a year.

Well if you going to come back, you might as well come back with a bang ! And boy that was hell of a return !!

TCS just gets better and better. Great production guys, found that very spiritual ! Loved the lyrics and as usual goose bumps as soon as Katja started singing. The harmonies worked really well on this one as well. Can’t complain when there are multiple Katha crooning away.

Top material from the strange ones.

Hey Digger,
Nice production all the way around, for sure! One has to love this professional sounding track. No wonder why the BBC went with it! Katja was superb as usual. I think all in all you got a keeper here dude!

Be well and all the best,
LBro

Hi Toby/LB,

Thanks for checking out the tune.
We’re working on a new set of songs, and this was the “ballad” if you like. Though there are some more slow tempo things in the pipeline - alongside some more rock tracks.
Been way too long - but actually feel like the music mojo is back.

Hi Digger and Katja,
It’s great to hear your new song.
I really liked it, this gloomy and dark style of yours is just great!
And for some reason, your highest level of music no longer surprises me
Thanks for sharing.
