BLIM course, Grade 2, module 13 video of me playing some blues

I saw the section in grade 2 of JG, module 13 on blues and once I got started, I devoured it. It was easy to understand, follow, and put into practice. I even added some extra notes with my little finger to enhance a few of the 7th chords in the video. I played a bit of a blues riff, then went into a few bars of blues in the key of E, using E7, A7, and B7, again followed by a short blues riff. Amazing stuff. Always been a fan of the blues, and now I can create my own tunes. I picked the key of E to practice the B7 chord especially, not a super easy feat, but after a few tries, I didn’t really find it that difficult using the one anchor point changing from an E7 to the B7. I’ve also been playing some blues in the keys of A, G and D, using the standard, quick change, and ‘slow change’ patterns from the video. Really enjoying this segment of the learning journey. Here’s a link to the video from you tube:

Great job. Its nice to hit the blues sections and start getting some movments going. Thanks for sharing your success.

Thanks! One nice thing about playing the blues is, it’s slow, so no speedy chord changes required. So far anyway…

Hello

You should try to not stop the rythm when you change between chords
it should be smooth transitions

Well done Jim, Keep at mate cheers HEC

That was the way I meant to play the arrangement. But thanks anyway. I’ve heard countless blues tunes that use that technique. The transitions I used were smooth to the tune, that is, they fell on the beat on time. Check out some other blues tunes that use that same way of playing. The music stops. Then it starts up again. Great way of playing the blues.

Jim - thank for sharing - well done with this - I remember having a go at it a while ago - if you like the blues and Justin’s teaching, you should give his BLIM course some consideration.

Thanks Jon, I’ll take another look at the BLIM. I wasn’t sure if it was for more advanced players or not. I’m nearing the end of grade 2 right now. This seem to come to me fairly easy though. Appreciate the positive feedback!

Some laid back bluesy vibes, enjoyed that Jim, keep on keeping on

Very cool Jim. I really like how you added an extra dimension to the riff from that lesson

Thanks David, I went out last evening on our deck and played some more blues type stuff. I really enjoy it. Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks! I really enjoyed that set of videos with Justin. It really took off for me this time. Not always the case, but it gets there eventually. I can feel the blues vibes when I’m playing too, which really helps. I just go with the flow and let it happen.

Well done! Inspiring me to pull that off now that I’m in grade 2.:clap:t6::clap:t6::clap:t6::clap:t6::clap:t6::clap:t6:

Thanks! You go for it. Can’t wait to see your video playing some blues. I bet it’ll be spectacular.

Well done Jim, it was fun to watch. It sounds great and we can definitely feel your love for the blues :guitar::guitar::guitar:

BLIM could be a nice medium term goal for you, after you have conpleted grade 3. It’s an information that Justin wrote in the blim FAQ.
