Does anyone know where I can get blue’s backing tracks without the guitar,I am using the A minor and A major pentatonic scales to create some licks. I have to admit that using those scales randomly instead of just going up and down like a robot sounds really cool, however I think it would sound even better with a cool slow backing track.
Justin has some
Otherwise search on youtube etc
Do a Google search for blues backing tracks. There are lots of good free sites and YouTube videos.
You tube has thousands of the. Just search for slow blues backing tracks in A
As others have said, Justin has brilliant backing tracks and purchasing them supports the site.
Or there are millions out there for free.
However, I notice you wrote,
And you posted your introductory in November and you are in Grade 1 and you posted elsewhere about the folly of rushing.
I would suggest that you follow your own advice here. Step back and don’t rush scales. Stick to just one or two for now.
Major and / or minor pentatonic in E or A.
Justin introduces two scales initially - E minor pentatonic (that ties in with the Wish You Were Here riff) and the C major scale (in open position that also helps yo u learn notes to fret 3).
Beyond that the A minor pentatonic (same shape as the E min pent but rooted at fret 5). Then that is it for a long time in the course.

Your correct about rushing, however I just happened to come across someone on Utube using the pentatonic scales for blue’s licks, and thought it sounded cool so as a bit of a change I decided to just try something myself and found I enjoyed the sound but not only that I was learning and memorising a scale without really thinking about it. So I don’t actually see myself as rushing things, just adding to my learning if I have an off day on a module then instead of getting frustrated and giving up I can now just play a blue’s licks relax then go back to the module.
You could invest in a loop pedal - then you can play your own backing and jam.over it. I’ve done this with a simple 12 bar blues and it sounded ok. I had fun at least
Hi I just recently got the boss RC-1 loop pedal so I will give that a try.
Make sure your rhythm playing is good on your loop. It’s not going to help you improvising if your practicing over a out of time loop.
My first attempt was not good but my second attempt was ok.
