Bonjour from Madagascar!

Hello everyone, it’s my pleasure to introduce myself. I’m Jojo writing to you from the northern provence of Antsiranana in Madagasdcar. We are the fourth largest island in the world and part of the wonderful African union.

I am learning guitar for the first time with Justin and am happy to be a part of this community. For your information, everyone in this country speaks the official language of Malagasy. French is also an official language, but it’s taught in school and not everyone can afford the tuition. Some people also speak English, Spanish, and German.

My main interests are blues, jazz, funk, and kompa music.

Okay, that’s my introduction. Allons y! Atsika jiaby!

@tony The worlds largest island continent? Hmmm…I am guessing you live in Australia? I imagine it is a beautiful place with natural beauty and resources.

@TheMadman_tobyjenner Yes! It’s true we have lemurs (we call them maki in our native Malagasy language). In fact, did you know… 90% of our plants and 85% of our animals are only found here in Madagascar and nowhere else on earth?

Thank you for the kind words. Which part of the country did you visit?

I am also excited! This is a wonderful time to be a learner (of everything!). We are lucky to connect across the world with audio, video, community forums, and other fun tools.

Yes thanks to an interest in Natural History, my youth wasn’t wasted. Something that make Madagascar and others like it very unique ! :+1:

We started in Tana, then went to Antsirabe, Andringitra, Isalo, Ifaty, Ile Sainte Marie, Andasibe-Mantadia, and back to Tana. A very beautiful trip, great memories!

Hi Jojo, welcome to the community. I am from the US and currently have Organic Madagascar Vanilla extract on my shopping list and know that most of the real vanilla in the world comes from Madagascar. I hope you have fun learning songs that you love on Justin’s website.
