I bought a Boss AD2 Acoustic Pedal hoping to get a nicer sound plugged in. Im new to this. Any tips?
Hi Tom I am not sure I know what sort of pedal that is but somebody will be along to help you, I am sure cheers Hec
I used it last night for the first time and it’s very subtle which is good. It only has 3 knobs. A notch pedal which is for eliminating feedback so that knob probably will always be at zero. It has a ambience knob which is a very nice subtle reverb and even at the highest setting it is really usable. It’s also a reverb created for acoustics so it’s not over the top. The third knob is acoustic resonance which is the main thing really. To get back the woody sound that a under saddle piezo pick up usually tends to affect. I have 3 acoustics and so far I have only tried it on my Gibson and am looking forward to seeing what the others do!
There isn’t much more to say than wht you just mentioned yourself; there is no “best” setting on this and it all depends on your guitar and your ear. I think it’s an elegant way to compensate for the downsides of piezo or magnetic pickups on an acoustic.
My Maton didn’t need something like this but or my Fender Hellcat I experimented with IR’s
By running the guitar signal through a cabinet simulator but with the IR of an acoustic guitar instead of a speaker, I was able to do something similar as what this resonance knob does.
It sounds interesting I have just bought a new acoustic so I might just have to have one he he why not Cheers Hec
