I recently learned this song after watching the Ken Burns epic documentary series on Country Music. My cover of this Emmylou Harris song uses Jessie Buckley’s acoustic version from the film Wild Rose
Another lovely performance Ruaridh! Nice balance between your fingerstyle playing & your vocals! Very entertaining!
Thanks for sharing!!!
Tod
Thanks Todd,
I had to work hard to be able to sing this one whilst doing the finger style. The timing, in places, is trickier than it sounds to weave it all together.
Hello Eccleshall,
what a great fingerstyle technique combined with finger strumming and slaps/chucks. Also your voice fits great. I really like this cover.
Thank you very much for share
That sounds wonderful.
Ruaridh
Very enjoyable performance. Perfect balance between voice and guitar.

Hi Ruaridh, what a treat to hear another avoyp from you, I noticed you hadn’t been on the OMs lately.
Your interpretations, sounds and the way your vocals comes accross always sounds great and interesting to me and you always come up with songs that are a bit interesting and different, well done mate great work
Thanks so much for the comments, @Carreta @beejay56 @frito @CD02
It’s a good song to sing.
I’m most pleased about how I’ve managed to match the energy in the strumming to the finger style, and least pleased about my scrappy attempt at chord melody!
Cheers
Ruaridh
@Eccleshall Heh, thanks for comment back. It made me hear your cover once again. So thank you.
Beautiful singing and playing. Thanks for posting that. Ian

Just my music. Such a beautiful song, and so beautifully played and sung!

I’ve got another Americana song, one by Sarah Jarosz in the pipeline that I’m hoping to get down in the next couple of weeks
Oh, which one of Sarah’s songs? Please share a recording when its ready! Earlier this year I’ve learned Runaway Train from her last album but I never quite got it to performance level, I got distracted with something else, need to get back to it and finish it. Right now I’m learning a few of Jackson C Frank’s songs, which somehow I guess you might be familiar with as well
I’m putting together an arrangement of Lost Dog off the 2016(?) album Undercurrent
I found a couple of live versions of it shes done with her on banjo and Chris Thile on mandolin and am trying to get the same riffy feel with solo guitar
