hahah
Iām sure I remember seeing a video which demonstrates this but I canāt remember where it was, maybe one of the old intermediate lessons. 16th note strumming is certainly something Iāve always found difficult.
Is that northern or southern hemisphere?
You are definitely better detective than me - so it is Sep 27 then.
Makes sense to offset from Jul/Jan BLIM starts actually!
Looking forward to this! ![]()
New videoā¦looking forward to it ![]()
Nice to combine with the many BLIM that I still have to do again ![]()
Greetings
You have this explained very nicely in the SOS course module - āAll Down Strums & Palm Mute Techniqueā. Justin is talking exactly about the strumming hand position and the difference between elbow strumming and wrist strumming. There is a full close-up on his strumming hand!
I think it is perfect that he teaches this in the context of palm muting, as the contact of your palm with the bridge/strings will actually force you to use your wrist for strumming and not your whole arm/elbow. There are many songs where you can practice this, but my choice would be:
- Green Day - Basket Case (Palm muting and dynamics)
- Iron Maiden - Trooper (Galloping rhythm)
- Metallica - Master of Puppets (Rhythmic / speed changes)
Start slow and increase speed as your mechanics improve.
Thanks a lot for the insight Boris, I totally missed it ! Well, itās nice I got something to keep me waiting until the big day in september ![]()
This is what it says after clicking that you want to be on the waiting list,
"Almost finished⦠We need to confirm your email address. To complete the subscription
process, please click the link in the email we just sent you⦠"
Did you receive a link in the email you sent to click?
Not me, but it did confirm that I was on the list⦠Is this correct @FannyJustinGuitar ?
Greetings,Rogier
Same as you @roger_holland . It might be because we have already confirmed our email in another waiting list like BLIM. ![]()

Justin has a lesson about funk strumming, but of course itās not only applicable to funk playing. And when you learn to strum with your wrist, thereās no turning back to moving your elbow up and down.
Mathieu, youāre so often first to discover these things!
I hope everything will go well and that Iāll be able to join the class!
And I still remember @Boris1565 interviewing Justin on the subject during our Blim graduation party.
You both might have added a bit of momentum to realize this class!
So, after this Blim, I think that Iāll have to delay acoustic Blues and prepare myself with some beginner rock guitar stuff, because I didnāt feel so much at ease when I was in Blim2 and felt like (almost) everyone was lots better.
so I hope to not go into the Rock Immersion Class (RIC ?) not as green as I was back then.
