BREAKING NEWS : Rock Immersion update

We’ve been joking about Rock Immersion (RIM) on the community for a while… and guess what? We actually have breaking news!

All those rock songs dropping on the YouTube channel were already suspicious, but during the BLIM Class 4 launch livestream, Justin casually drops the bomb that he’s officially working on Rock Immersion!

I even made a tiny clip you can now watch on repeat until next year — courtesy of @Silvia80. Ahahahaha!:fire::guitar:

Hey, Mathieu, I missed the session, but watched your loop video… Thank you!
And - wow, let’s have a party! :sign_of_the_horns:
We should tell this @Boris1565 too  and Artem @metramaks and probably loads of people will be interested!
I’ll have to start and save some money now

And through the ether… Justin - seems you caught a virus - get well soon!

Sounds like it’s still a good while off but great news that it’s in the pipeline. Being purely selfish it wouldn’t work for me right now anyway but another year and I anticipate having a lot more time to dedicate to it. Will definitely sign up

That’s awesome! Hopefully by the time it’s gonna be released I’ll finally manage to finish BLIM.

Yes, I feel like having done BLIM will make the whole experience even more fun. Because, instead of spending most of our time on getting the foundations like bending or muting strings, we will spend our time practicing rock specific stuff.

I would love a Rock Immersion course. Not now, but maybe in a year or two… !!! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

That’s where I see a rather significant challenge: How to make RIM interesting, i. e. not repetitive but fun and challenging throughout, for people, who have done BLIM and for people like me, who will, most probably be lacking the BLIM experience, before starting RIM.

That said: Let there be rock!! :sign_of_the_horns:

Good point ! And I think we already had that aspect in BLIM as some people like me started the course without blues experience, but some others were already good blues players . But, we all learned and improved from our starting point. There is plenty of stuff to do in the immersion courses. I personnally spend 50% of my time in the first units working on bending, and not so much on the standards and the theory of things. I did that later in the consolidation period. And the one that already mastered bending, they had more time to learn the standards . A win-win for both. :slightly_smiling_face:

Rock immersion … I already hate the power chords chapter

What makes you think it’s only one?

Was about to say exactly this - it’ll be power chords all the way!

Oh that’s awesome, I can’t wait! It might be a while before we get to it, but that hopefully gives me enough time to get my skills up to par.

Haha, yes!
But actually, there are lots of rock songs without power chords.
Just as more the sound will be distorted, the more you have to find ways to not play all of the 6 strings at the same time.

There will certainly be some common subjects in both, BLIM and RIM.
Mathieu already answered well (sorry if I have to talk so much anyway! ), in BLIM, no one could do all of the course in those 6 months, so we all go back after the 6 months and revisit what we have left (I still have SO many things left!)
There are lots of foundational subjects and then lots of advanced stuff also, so during the course no one gets bored. And Justin just stated in his BLIM Class 4 launch that even the advanced people should still look at the basic techniques and try to improve on them, like he says, after all those years, he is still working on his bending.

Thanks for sharing this. I think it will be reassuring to many of the people looking at blues or rock immersion because much like when you first pick up a guitar it’s easy to assume you’re the only one struggling which leads to so many quitting. It’s better to go in with realistic expectations with a mindset of I’ll do the best I can and be happy with it

Yes, Justin just stated it in his “Blues Immersion - Class 4 Launch” I’ve just been watching the recording and while I definitely didn’t plan to redo it now, it gave me quite an incentive to re-subscribe immediately:  https://www.youtube.com/live/9UnhMYqX-oA?si=xb7yVOkXWmqARli6

For me (and many others) it was quite an exciting time - haha - a bit like being in school again.

Yes, many were taking a break (or some maybe even quit? I don’t know), as it would be hard for most people to be engaged at a high pace for 6 months, but then it’s nice to have the lessons lying waiting for you (and books and playlists) and you probably gathered some nice aquaintences to exchange with on your progress and struggles.
I have a few BLIM mates and I know I am going to work on what I missed or wasn’t good enough when BLIM happened for me (BLIM 2) - again very soon

This is very exciting news for me!

As someone who never met a power chord they didn’t like, I am totally pumped for this  :sign_of_the_horns:

Sign me up!
