Good to see you back in action on home turf Brian!
Look forward to hearing this live and in person

Cheers, Richard,
Hehe, as you can see, I haven’t been doing much on Starman
Would you like me to message you the lyric/chord sheet?

woohoo!  love it!
very enjoyable! :grinning_face_with_big_eyes: Looking forward to the new project!
I’ll check out those Blackeyed Susans
also, thanks for looking after the community map :sunflower:

I should dig deeper myself-
Any band named after a flower that has had a couple of Bad Seeds, a couple of Triffids and one of the Dirty Three in it, is likely to be a ‘grower’ (I’ll get my coat )

The pleasure is mine.
Really.
I had forgotten you lived in Toowoomba, just inland from the Sunny Coast where Ger and I spent and idyllic year :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
I drove through it on my motorcycle when the hospital sent me to work for a month in St. George, Mungindi & Cunnamulla. Thought I’d die on the Moonie Highway :grimacing:

The :smiling_face_with_horns: makes work for idle :raising_hands:… and this :butterfly: is easily distracted
Whilst waiting for collaborator contributions to roll in, I decided to try to learn how to play a song I loved as a teenager Temple of Love by the Sisters of Mercy (1983)
Jumping the gun, I wondered what visuals would complement it and, having recently watched Metropolis (Fritz Lang,1927), I forgot all about guitar and made a mashup video for the song.
(Older forum members might recall I do this occasionally e.g. Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Part 9 or Common People)
Anyway, it was good fun, and I learned a lot more about video editing with DaVinci Resolve
Do not go towards the light! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

 That’s clever! well said :joy:
I’ve been giving them a listen. They are pretty good! Thanks

yes, coastal SE Queensland and northern NSW are beautiful and I love Toowoomba
travelling out to Cunnamulla on a motorcycle would be an adventure though

Hi Brian
:grinning_face_with_big_eyes:
Good to see that happy face with your cheerful singing… :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:
As you know I am sensitive to the suffering of others so you understand that I needed it…

I take the sloppy playing for granted  (and it’s actually part of it)
And where I can I try to use the word ‘sloppy’ where I can…just like ‘shut your pie hole’, the nicest expression in your language…and how nice that I can use it so often with you :joy:

Greetings :sun:

Hi Brian

I do enjoy your posts, they are so much fun. Really liked the song, the lyrics tickled me especially "I’m smoking’ Johnny Cash’ made me laugh, at least that is what I think I heard you singing. I think you have a bit of a Nick Cave going on there, which is not bad thing, one of my favourites I would add, he has written some wonderful songs, if you want to explore that Aus. vibe more.

Cheers :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

An admirable sentiment Brian but I’ve missed several of your songs because they’re here in your LL.
The problem with your new approach is everything gets mixed up with replies to previous posts. It’s especially hard work wading through our Dutch pal’s comments. :joy:
Anyway I’ve caught up now. I loved your Smokin’ Johnny Cash. Suits your guitar and vocal style to a T. Well done.
I look forward to your next family and friends performance, assuming I can find it. :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:
As for Temple of Love, you’re straying well away (again) from guitar learning/tuition but it was a fun watch nonetheless.

Clint would say, I found my own ‘voice’
Your ‘idiosyncratic’ English always allows me to find a sliver of ambiguity in your insults, and to read them as compliments
Thank you!

@AJSki2fly Cheers Adrian. Much appreciated
You heard right. I did wonder if that was Aussie rhyming slang for ‘Mary Jane’
You’re on the button with the Cave connection as well. They hail from Melbourne like him, and as I mentioned to Jasmine above, two of the Bad Seeds have played with them
Nick Cave is probably one of my favourite rock Gods. (‘Meeting’ him made the list of one of the amazing 19 Things I wrote a song about in my life :open_mouth:).
This afternoon I bought tickets to see his sidekick Warren Ellis play with the Dirty Three in Manchester in December)

Hehe, you know where I live
and you don’t have to trawl through all the dross that I/we scribble. Just scroll down. I add any songs with the full YT picture you can click on.
Thanks for endorsing my smoking! Richard is coming around for a jam next week and we might give it a whirl as a duet.
The Temple of Love vid was a fun diversion, and I was pleased with the result. So much so, that I shared it with one of the band’s fb fan pages and received 50 likes/loves :open_mouth:
Here I have the grand total of two!
I think I recall the Good Lord saying something along the lines that "The Prophet is never accepted in his own town… :folded_hands:

Edit: Another weird thing is that I average around 40-50 views from the usual suspects the day after uploading a video. As I type this, I’m on 643 YouTube views and rising.
Algorithms- Who understands any of it?

For you, my friend, I’m going old-fashioned and famous. I hope my nephew in Dublin can provide some piano- The song kinda needs it. I’ll tag you so, so you don’t miss it

Brian, I think the reality is there are only 40-50 regular contributors here. On YouTube you have a potential worldwide audience. If you want fame…perhaps not fortune…the tube is the way to go.

No, that’s the puzzling thing.
I have a couple of dozen YT views normally.
Over 800 for this for some reason.
Weird!

Smokin Johnny Cash fits right into your style comfort zone I reckon. A pretty good Brianesque vid.

I see you’ve abandoned your pick adventure entirely and gone back to your unconventional finger strumming on electric ways - hey, whatever works

That is often very often the intention… :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

:scream: I can’t imagine that ‘sloppy’ chords could even be read as an insult to you…or is this just another example when I write it like this? …nooo

The way you bring it make me happy ,what the heck do I have to say more …
Ooo …maybe say less … Nooo that can`t be it ,what is the fun in that :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Greetings and happy autumn to everybody

You see, @roger_holland , that’s how you give qualified praise!:rofl::rofl:
Just kidding.
I love and thank you both.

Not quite.
I have been practicing with my pick for the Temple of Love riff-
It’s out of my comfort zone though, so may well take a while…

Good to see you having fun Brian after the Danish distractions. Never go back to the 2nd half of those recordings but good to see you cranking out obscure stuff ie the TBS !

That brings back memories … Leeds Refectory, jam-packed front-to-back, a monumentally loud pa system, steam rising from the thronged masses of black-clad doomsters, the wet dripping back down from the low roof.
