Bush - Glycerine

It’s been a while since I’ve posted a recording, I picked some songs which were too difficult and haven’t been able to get them even close to recording worthy, I now think I’ve learned in mistakes, so I’m going back to basics as I posted about a plateau a while ago.

So I decided to try something new, simpler but still not too easy, but fast for me with 8th notes. I’m trying to work on my rhythm, strumming, and endurance at the moment.

I didn’t spend too much time on this, it eventually got boring as it’s a repetitive song, but I went from picking it up to this in a few weeks. So I’m pleased, and it’s proven that I’m not completely stuck and I can pick new songs up quickly. There’s some mistakes though, this was a first attempt to record it once I was playing it up to speed.

I’m having some trouble with my wrist angle. It seems like whatever position my guitar is in there is some problem. I tried setting it up so when I sit and stand it’s in the same position, but my wrist is still too bent. Maybe my strap needs to be lower.

Recorded using DI and mixed back into the track so you can hear the guitar more over the acoustic clacking that dominated my previous videos.

After recording this I realised I’m wearing my scruffy decorating fleece which is covered in paint

Nice, thats a cool song too. I think my wife has that CD in our collection even.

Repetitive songs are good to learn. A lot of the 90s and 2K stlye is repetitive. It forces you to stay on track. And it will force you challenge yourself with dynamics. Playing softer or louder in chorus and verse. Crescendo near the end or opposite. At the leadt its really good for the endurance .

I think you did a great job. Rock on brother. :sign_of_the_horns:t2::sign_of_the_horns:t2:

Sound good, rather than lowering the whole guitar, why not try rotating it about 10 degrees so the neck is lower, other wise you will impact your strumming position, with trying first maybe.

Really well done. Great song and you got the tone in your DI spot on. thanks for sharing!

Thanks, I’ll give that a try. I did have it lowered at one point and my wrist was in a great position but my strumming didn’t feel right at all.
