Just wanted to compare my Fireflies Cover from yesterday to my cover of it 2 years ago… Huge difference imo!! My new one is so much better and its almost embarrassing lol. This is why I like redoing covers over sometimes, its because I like to compare them to now and then to see how much i have improved! Its a huge margin imo as i have improved drastically over the past couple of years!!! Thanks to a really talented friend ALY! I know i still gotta work on alot of stuff, but i think i have came a long way since then!!!
Heres the first cover of it 2 years ago… Pretty embarrassing lmao.
And this is what I did yesterday morning! Still not perfect by any means but i think its a huge step forward! Still not perfect, I still gotta work on some phrasing, but i figured i would redo and relearn this song for the kids this week! For anyone curious on seeing how someone can improve over the years!!!
6/25/25 Performance for the children went great! I did Hey Hey My My, Fire Flies, Horse With No name, Wonderwall and Sweet Dreams (Eurythmics) The kids loved Sweet Dreams and sang along! It was great! My Coworker/Friend/ My Student played along with me and did great!
Hey guys so i hope Justin and the mods dont mind me posting my Hey Hey My My lesson. not sure where to post this!
I did this for my principles Birthday yesterday, he has always wanted to learn how to play this and loves how I do it, so i attempted to make a lesson on it.
Not the best lesson as im no teacher, though i would like to go down that route and teach eventually!!
Ive learned alot on how to teach from the likes of Jusin and Marty and Rock on good people guy! I guess you can say they give me inspiration!!!
Anyways I did not clearly explain the chords well enough in this video so the chords are as follows!!
Intro - Am, G, F
Verse - Am, G, F
Chorus, C, Em, Am, F back to Am, G, F
Lead part - C, G, Am, F back to intro part.
Hope this helps anyone who is interested and thank you!
Bytron, I don’t think there is anything wrong with sharing the lesson you made for your principle. Don’t think anybody would construe this as marketing your own competing learning channel, which would be a NO-NO.
That said, I would like to move it to a different Category as it is not a Guitar Challenge in terms of how Guitar Challenges are defined. I don’t see it as a Community Recording really, like an AVOYP. It is something different.
I think your Learning Log is more appropriate place to share, rather than Community Recordings
I watched your lesson (found it off this forum) Byron! Nicely done!
First, I would like to say that you really have been doing great with your playing. I remember your early posts and it is so cool to see how well you play now.
Second, I like that you take the time to teach and explain how you are playing. Sure, you aren’t an experienced teacher, but your explanations made sense, were as clear as they could be without fancy diagrams and all, and are very real and down to earth.
I am not sure I love the song enough to learn it, others are higher on my list, but it is a pretty straight forward song and I think it would be good for anyone who wants to work on strumming while also picking individual strings, and probably a good song for working on singing.
Hey Jamolay!! Thanks man! I really appreciate that! Yeah I have came a long way in my journey!!! Im alot better now than I use to be for sure!!! Just takes time and consistence!! Loving it! Rock on man!
The Cost is the best of the three: all the songs are interesting lyrically. In the verse passages of the first two songs the accompaniment is a bit flat: perhaps a background pick of 1 and 2 and or doubling up of guitars might enhance the dynamic and the colour. As ever Byron your songs and performances are very good.
So our song Knock It Out Of The Park is gonna be played on the radio show Into The Groover by Deal Radio Hosted by Gaz Richards. Monday 6pm U.K Time 1PM here in the eastern U.S.
Excited!! Anyone familiar with that show? I know its not really well known, still cool though!
Ive been advertising some of my songs on groover and submitting them to curators.
We could always make a newer version!! it’s a small town local station I think. I did mention we all worked on it in the press release. Just gotta see where it goes
Really pleased for you: any radio play will broaden your audience. I didn’t know of the station or the programme. They do have an online presence: the station seems to broadcast 24/7 and they invite submissions from performers. Recordings of previous shows are online too.
This was so cool! Although i hate that he didnt mention Aly or Dom. I had put our names on the press release.
Anyways, pretty sick!
At first I sent him the Hey Hey My My tutorial and he liked it but he said its something he could not air. So i sent him this song we did and he played it!
I was unable to listen to it when it was live because of bad connection and plus i was busy at work!
Now I get to listen to it! Sick!!! Theres some pretty good artists on that station as well! Amy Shine caught my attention with her song Scared To Win. So much talent! Anyways that was cool! So stoked!
