Great to see you have an uke now! I love ukes too!
Most times, I found I had to improve things regarding intonation, because of the short scale length in addition to manufacturing being on the cheap side. But if you’re happy with yours, great!

Yes! I’m happy with it I think it sounds good.

Now I want a baritone lol!

Do you have a uke?

@domi7

Why a baritone? (Because it is tuned like the four highest strings of a guitar?)
I prefer the higher tuning ones and think they are a nice addition sound-wise to a guitar.
I had started with the uke before guitar and had aquired a few of them
All rather cheap, none great, but good enough except many had bad intonation , so I quickly got good at fixing them.

My prefered one is a tenor uke that has a little less body depth. Still the same tuning as those tiny soprano ones and the concert ones, but often they got a little nicer tone and a little less intonation problems.

Nice to meet you Luke, here’s Cucù, I’m Silvia’s Uke! :joy:

Ukes are so much fun! But I’m lazy and I learnt only the chords in the key of C…and bought a capo :grimacing:

I now have 3 Ukes, I had 4 but one of my little monsters broke one…he was rocking it, lol.

Yeah that’s one reason why, plus it’s a little bigger. That’s cool! I’ll have to check tenor out

My wife has bought several ukes. Started with an inexpensive one but it escalated quickly from there. There are 5 ukes now. 1 has kindof defaulted to me because my wife doesn’t care for the tone of it. It’s a Bonanza (not made anymore) concert that was made on a CNC machine and has a pickup installed.

I haven’t put any time into learning to play it yet since I’ve been focused on guitar.

She has two Hawaiian-made Ko’aloha ukes. One of which is a one-of-a-kind tenor that’s got a solid quilt maple body. She bought it at the factory this spring when we visited and took a tour. Her other one is a concert that’s made from solid koa. She has more money into ukes than I do into guitars. I have a couple much-bigger-ticket items in mind that I’m just biding my time before I decide to spend on them.

That’s really cool! The Luna I got was reasonable and I think it sounds great!

That’s a bananza? Sounds like the new donkey Kong game lol

I only know what the OG Donkey Kong sounds like. So I dunno about the new one.

Yeah, it has an interesting construction. The top and back are separate pieces that are carved out with a CNC. This particular one is an “Oreo” model that has a band of darker wood between them, visible on the sides.

It does make a bit of an odd sound when the low G string, especially, is hit hard. It’s probably why she doesn’t like the sound of it. I don’t think it was doing this before she changed the strings on it so it might be related to that. It’s also possible it could be some of the bits associated with the pickup vibrating inside the body. There’s definitely a sort of almost rattly sound.

Hi Byron. Good stuff, ukes seem to be great fun.
From my limited research it appears that to be great at uke you need great clickbait legs.:joy:
