Categorising of songs as 6:8 (and other time signatures)

Hi JG admins,

Thanks for all the great work ye do in maintaining this site. I thought Iā€™d let ye know about the following two (related) issues that Iā€™ve come across:

6:8 songs

Itā€™s great that you can filter the Song list by multiple criteria (Difficulty, Genre, etc.). Iā€™m in the process of consolidating Grade 1 and working on my 6:8 strumming and I notice that when filtering for Songs in 6:8, I only see the following three:

  • House Of The Rising Sun ā€“ The Animals
  • Love in Vain ā€“ The Rolling Stones
  • Boyfriends ā€“ Harry Styles

This list is missing the following songs that are also in 6:8:

Iā€™m guessing thereā€™s some tag in the back-end database thatā€™s missing from these songs so they donā€™t appear in the filtered list. There may be more 6:8 songs but these are the ones that Iā€™ve come across.

Other time signatures

I also notice that ā€œ6:8ā€ is the only available option when filtering by time signature. Almost all other songs are in 4:4 but so far Iā€™ve come across one other time signature: Jolene by Dolly Parton which is in 2:2 time. As a beginner that has only scratched the surface of Justinā€™s song lessons, I imagine there are more songs that have a time signature other than 4:4 or 6:8.

That was fast work! Just to keep you busy, Iā€™ve since thought of another song to be added: Everybody Hurts by R.E.M..

I hadnā€™t previously come across the Feedback Hub so thanks for letting me know about it. I presume that I should submit my feedback under Idea & Content Suggestion (as opposed to a Bug).

It might be useful to keep this thread for other community members who might come across other songs in 6:8 that have not yet been categorised as such. Iā€™ve edited the thread title so that it should be easier for people to find.

Hi Fanny,

I submitted feedback yesterday as an Idea & Content Suggestion but when I looked for it today, I couldnā€™t see it. I thought that I had made a mistake as I had been in a hurry yesterday so I re-submitted it just now. After doing so, I saw that both submissions are currently awaiting moderator approval so that explains why I didnā€™t see yesterdayā€™s submission. Todayā€™s submission is the better of the two because the formatting is more readable and I since found another song in another time signature that I could reference.

By the way, I noticed that Everybody Hurts by R.E.M. still isnā€™t listed when filtering for Songs in 6:8.

In the same lines, would it be possible to put a filter for songs with power chords in the app, if it makes sense. It will be very helpful.
