CCR - Have you ever seen the rain - AVOYP

Ok, so the lesson for this song is a Grade 3 lesson, but I’m playing a simplified version, so I suppose it fits with my grade 2 skills.

First time toying with mixing more than one video; synchronizing them to the track took some effort. Suppose I’m not gonna be able to survive as a tick-tocker: no fancy editing going on.

Oh, and a shoutout to Boris1565 and CATMAN62 who both recommended the Moises app for creating backing tracks. I’ve adopted it and I’m having a blast. It’s what I used for this tune, keeping from the original only the drums and a hint of the bass.

Nice job! I love CCR. You did a good job blending the parts. I’m sure matching up the multiple videos took a bit of work.

That was fantastic. You got F barr in and your strumming was smooth and synced well. The video was cool also with the melody lead. :sunglasses: with the base walk down too!

Well done, Claudio! You seem to be progressing really well. I liked your video with the audio tracks in the background and your double - at one point, triple - video clips. Great song!

Well done Claudio, it sounds great. A lot of work both to play and edit this. As the next level, you could play rhythm part on acoustic with the muted strum (scratch) in the rhythm pattern. I think that would really go well with the electric guitar playing melody. I am glad you find Moises useful.

Thanks everyone for the nice feedback! It certainly is super nice the way this community expresses itself and gives support . I recorded my first AVOYP two years ago (without the V then), really dreading the exposure, but I’m glad I did and kept doing it: one can look back and see (hopefully) a progression in playing skills and complexity of challenges, and that gives great encouragement to continue moving forward.

Since then I got in the habit of recording audio of almost everything once I learn it, and store it dated, so I can look at a moment in time and see “where I was”. Every couple of months maybe something strikes me as interesting enough to share here.

I like your suggestion; that said, I don’t yet have a folk acoustic guitar - I do have a nylon classic guitar, but I don’t think it sounds super good for this. Been doing some reading on different body sizes and neck shapes, and starting to get ready to hit the music store to try out a few; come ’25 I should have an acoustic to complement the electric. There will be a lot more Neil Young in my practice then, that’s for sure

Hi @heckler , since @Boris1565 's suggestion will have to wait, I’ll offer an alternative for you to work on: add some embellishments to the melody line. Adding some string bends, pull-offs, hammer-ons, vibrato and/or slides, will really improve the melody line and make it sound more expressive, for sure. I think there is a slide that you do at one or two points, but adding some more embellishments would be an upgrade, I think (not that there’s anything wrong with the lead line that you played, it’s perfectly fine.)
