One of the country songs that I like.

Wow, Jay! What a performance! I wish I could play like that. And you have a great voice, just love your singing. Can I ask you two questions? 1)A fingerstyle part that you’re doing is it like a fingerstyle pattern or did you get it from a tab or are you just playing what you feel? 2)I’m a complete beginner to recording, so I’m sorry if this question is stupid, but why you’re wearing headphones? What are you hearing in them? Thank you for sharing, such a great song, Jay!

Thanks, Oleg. Regarding the finger style, I usually pick a pattern, but in this case, I’m playing what I feel except for the introduction, which is based on tabs and listening to the original. I’m wearing headphones because I’m recording with a Focusrite attached to my computer, and the headphones allow me to hear what the recording will sound like. You can probably tell, there’s some reverb added.

That’s great. How did you figure out how to record and upload? I see you have a mic. I hear the voice really niceley but the guitar I can’t hear too well. I have no idea how to do any of this. Want to begin to record my progress but no clue where to start. Sorry to hijack your performance. Great job by the way, you sound amazing!

Hi James. Yes, I kept the guitar picking very low on the verses because that’s how it is on the original, but I may have overdone it. To record, I plug the mic and guitar into a Focusrite, which is plugged into a pc running Reaper (a DAW). Then I record sound in Reaper as I record video on my phone. I then upload the video to my computer. I use Camtasia to integrate the audio and video tracks, but you can just upload video to Reaper and do the integration there.

Wow that sounds like a lot to learn. Not very tech savvy. But yours sounded fantastic and the video was definitely spot on with the audio

Well done again Jay

Great playing and singing. Thoroughly enjoyed it and I don’t normally like country music!
