Is there a place that goes over how to follow the practice song videos? It seems like it should be obvious, but I found differences between the practice song videos and the specific song videos that Justin has posted.
Hello @ReactionTime! The song practice is mostly meant to help you get the techniques you just learned in that module under your fingers. In this case, it’s mostly about the Dm. The aim of the exercise is to get the chord changes in time, while strumming on beats 1 and 3 - but keep your arm moving up and down on all 4 beats! So yes, you have completed the exercise if you manage this - but nothing stops you from taking it a step further and strum on all 4 beats for example.
Whereas the song practice in the practice routine is rather a technical exercise disguised as a song lesson, the actual song lesson is aimed at learning to play the song. So that’s why there is indeed a difference between the two. You could look at the song practice as a start to the song lesson, giving you to a step by step approach to learning the song.
@Richard_close2u In the early modules of the beginner course, Justin sometime adds a video of the old app in the practice assistant for the song practice routine. It’s only a few modules so I guess it’s to advertise the app for new users
math07’s screenshot shows where the video is posted in Justin’s beginner routine for module 4. I just right clicked the video and opened it in a new tab to get the link for it. I didn’t realize it was supposed to be something private. I can edit my post and remove the link if you’d like.
