Well, I can sorta relate, as I cut the fourth finger of my fretting hand with a bread knife a couple of days ago. Live and learn!
Ugh! I hate cuts even more now.
Apparently, it is not safe for us to do anything but play guitar anymore.

Ouch! That brings back memories. I feel your pain, literally. The thing that I learned when I did something similar is that no amount of pain killer really eliminates the pain at the end of a digit.
Now is a great time to delve deeper into theory and let that finger and hand rest.
Keep it elevated. May the pain lesson soon and the recovery be relatively short.

I am discovering that actually taking the time to practice just the right picking hand is super valuable. I hope it is teaching me a good new habit.

More haste, less speed. Glad you didn’t mangle your finger this time.
I started playing around with a slide when I had a cat bite on a fretting finger. I couldn’t fret anything for about 3 weeks.
