This will be a really dumb question, but once changed to DADGAD do you still play the notes for a particular song the same as in standard tuning, it’s just that the song then sounds different, i.e. ‘A’, ‘C’, ‘D’, etc. same fingers for both tunings?

Hi John. Your question isn’t clear. Do you mean the same chord shapes? If so then the answer is no. Altered tunings use different chord shapes entirely. If you mean the notes then yes, a D major chord in DADGAD contains the same notes as a D major chord in standard … albeit perhaps in different a order with different amounts of octave repeats.
