It’s so nice and wholesome to see people treat a beginner so gently and in an encouraging manner.

Wow! Only four months in, that’s amazing! Both your playing and your singing are fantastic. Congratulations on your first open mic.

Absolutely solid AB   great performance, and i loved watching the woman on the nearest table with the denim jacket she was constantly nodding and acknowledging how well you were doing. Great work :+1:

Agreed! I’m glad you noticed Rachel. She’s been learning guitar as well, and I’m encouraging her to finally get on stage soon. She was very supportive and made sure she came back to the floor to watch me play. Very sweet.
Thank you for your kind words as well. It’s what keeps me pushing.

Thank you. It really didn’t feel like the best I could’ve done (nerves, playing too loud and fast, etc) but ill get there some day, thanks to this community! :purple_heart:

Congratulations. Open mics are a great learning experience. Rock on

Last week’s performance here - Day 135 - I performed at an open Mic!

Thanks to the kind words from you all and also the overwhelming support from the artists at the brewery, I went back for my second open mic last night and performed 3 songs.
Here’s one of them - Zombie by Cranberries

Thank you all

Well played: the guitar strum was consistent and changes seemed clean. The mic wasn’t doing your vocal any favours: perhaps the settings on the amp need tweaked a bit. Very emjoyable.

That was great Aroon! One of the great protest songs, really well performed.

Thank you for the feedback. I was also told that I should position myself closer to the speakers so that I can hear myself sing. Still trying to get myself familiarized with the feeling of hearing myself on the mic, how close is too close to the mic, etc.

We have an Open Mic night once a month where we live. We have monitor speakers set up facing the stage which would obviously be the better solution. And with the mic, you should try bringing it closer to your mouth so that you’re within kissing distance. Well played though and the vocals picked up nicely for the last chorus. Well done.!!

Sounded great what I could hear. The guitar sound level was fine, but the crowd noise kind of overshadowed your voice. Try ‘eating the mic’ when you sing. Most pros do that so the mic can pick up your voice better. You have to be right on top of it. Otherwise a great performance. Good for you for doing an open mic.

Thank you for the feedback. To be completely honest, I am hesitant on singing too close to the mic because I do not have a high level confidence in my vocal skills. I figured if I sing a little further from the mic, my vocal imperfections would be better camouflaged, haha. A little bit of an introspection on my part, or maybe self-consciousness

@localtoast Aroon, take a look after the 2:30 mark in the video. You let the singing dragon out of its cage then. Listen to that crowd whoop when you did that. Bring that guy to the next open mic and show them how it’s done. The confidence comes from doing, and man, you did it that night! You should be very proud of that performance!

You can edit the title and add the link to the video in the first post if you wish. Please ask the Moderators if you need any help with editing. Cheers,
