Here’s an original Blues composition I’ve titled
"Bb Smoothie’
3 Choruses long, very laid back at 80bpm, obviously in Bb, and bringing together some ideas I’ve learnt from the Blues Immersion course, and some other structured learning I’ve been persuing.
(Best listened to with headphones)
Hi Shane ,
T-shirt and shorts … show-off … yes, yes, I am vain, windy cold here , occasionally raining (too hot for the time of year, but still) with a nasty coughing cold … and also at that playing yours. But this is my first song of the day brings some sunshine into my room…
Okay, .30 degrees is a bit much … and for your dog that is really tough … good luck for your dog … and a merry Christmas in the sun …is a long-cherished wish of ours, while as a child we thought that that really wasn’t possible “Christmas on the beach in the heat”
Musically very pleasing, Shane. The backing track is just right for the overall mood, and your playing does it justice. Tasty riffs, great tone. Not much more to be desired.
Best wishes and regards
Tomasz
I think in many ways these slow Blues jams are more difficult, and more revealing, than say a 120+ bpm piece. But they do give you a chance to be more expressive, in a different way.
The finger movement is obviously slower, but it’s the articulation that has to be a lot cleaner I’ve found; otherwise, you get found out pretty quickly, as you can see here in a few places where I’ve just been slightly off, either with the fretting or the picking hand.
Thats what I’m really trying to work on; being consistently spot on with the basics. Watching back videos like this for me is a great lesson in honing in on my weaknesses, and then figuring out musical drills etc to overcome them.
How lucky are we though to play around with these cool Blues tunes, while we use them to keep developing.
Its the kind of music I would want playing outside the front door of a blues bar and you want great sounding music but not overpowering. Very inviting.
