Hello guys and gals. Hope y’all having a good time with y’er guitars.
I learnt how to play the guitar on an acoustic (my friend’s guitar). Spent like hours on end every day and I’m pretty good at it now. But there’s been a problem. I used one of my earbuds on my left ear for the metronome and practiced songs like that for god knows how long. During a 3 month long summer break, I’ve noticed that my right ear has gotten a log sensitive than my left. And the sensitivity difference is large enough to bother me every day. I tried looking to the right while playing but I have to look to the left as I’m a beginner. I got an electric and I use my laptop as amplifier and the unfortunate structure of my dorm room exposes my right ear to the speakers more than the left. Is there some way I can fix this imbalance? Cuz when I’m playing, the sensitivity is so high that my brain forgets that my left ear exists and I’m afraid that it might get worse I continued doing it.
don’t want to make you worry, but if I were in your shoes, I would go to the doc for that matter and have my hearing checked.
I hardly can imagine of any scenario that the use of an earbud for metronome would drastically reduce hearing sensitivity that much it will make a noticeable difference between both ears. Except you had it up at 100+ dB and damaged your ear. Maybe your left ears is simply blocked by something that reduces sensitivity. Long time use of ear buds can cause collection of earwax, for example.
I would advice seeing a doc before experimenting with your hearing too much.

That was my first thought and I bought a kit that helps me remove the wax from my ears. Apparently, the wax in the left is very low and there was a lot in the right.
Either ways, I’ll go and see if I can get some help from the uni’s hospital.
