I am a newbie guitarist who just completed Beginner Grade 1, and I am really enjoying this journey of discovering music and myself in a different way.
In Grade 1, Justin just touches upon the basics of how to read guitar tabs, and i want to know if there are other courses offered by Justin where he gives a more advanced tutorial on reading and playing guitar tabs?
If not then can anyone recommend the best way to get started on using tabs?
Regards
Zarrar

I think that perhaps what @ZarrarY means is that in that lesson Justin explains the absolute basics of TABs but then when you look at different TABs they contain all sorts of symbols that are not covered in the lesson. At least that is what has confused me about trying to follow TABs.
Is that what you mean @ZarrarY ?
I don’t think TAB is all that difficult to learn, honestly. But maybe that’s because I have a basic understanding of how standard notation works and can technically “read” music, I suppose. I learned how to use TABs before I was able to do much with songsheets (chords/lyrics). This article goes into a bunch of the extra symbols you might see in some TABs.

Personally, i’m not a big fan of the ASCII TAB notation. But oftentimes it’s the best you’ll get. The program Guitar Pro handles tab notation really nice and has a playback function so you can hear exactly what a given notation is supposed to sound like. Sometimes I’ll take a song from one of Justin’s videos and transcribe what he says to do into TAB (in Guitar Pro) to help me learn it.
Yes me too - when Justin suggests a song I set up the tab and strumming pattern in Guitar Pro and learn it there. I also use Chordify to play along with the suggested song.
Exactly @Prof_Thunder… there are much more symbols and different styles depending on where one get the tab-sheets. For example there are curves and even lines under the tab notations (like square brackets) that connect 2 tab notations
You’ll need to look up music notation for those symbols
At the moment, the How To Read Guitar TAB is the only one that covers this, but I’ve made a ticket in our Content Board for an additional more in dept lesson that explains those additional symbols you might see.
I’ll also check if one of our Club hosts can cover it in an upcoming live session!
It doesn’t really fall within the Vintage Club ‘style’ but maybe I could do something with TAB and Guitar Pro. Perhaps.
Hey! Lee’s keen to do a session on Tabs But I think a Guitar Pro would be well appreciated too!
