Silvia @Silvia80 started this off with her rendition of Canât Help Falling Off which in the UK is the song for my team Sunderland also it was established for Huddersfield @Simon_plays_bass and Hull as well.
So here is the challenge what is your teams song and can you play it?
In my case we did it as the last song in the Guitar Club summer concert as a strumming version, posted in the appropriate place in the community, so I am currently learning Justinâs lesson on the song but finger style.
Michael
PS The song is referred to around here as Wise Men, from the first line of the song.
PPS we also had a nomination You never Walk Alone as a Liverpool song.@mfeeney0110

I thought I might hear from you. Must confess it is a while, as you will know, since I I have been at St James Park or is it still called a well known sports brand, so was unaware of the entrance song. I am old enough to remember Sunderland coming out to Z Cars now that dates me

My team is ADO Den Haag which won their first match this season with 5-1 last Sunday which is very nice indeed. Itâs not in the primary league alas, but itâs a first step to promoting to the nations first league (the dutch Eredivisie) which of course ADO Den Haag belongs too.
There we can battle against the best teams again of which Ajax is of course the nicest team to beat (I was there 20 march 2011 when ADO won 3-2 against Ajax).
There are of course loads of songs associated with (ADO) Den Haag but the most important one is the unofficial the Hague anthem âO, o, Den Haagâ, written and performed by the âHageneesâ Harrie Jekkers and released under the name âHarry Klorkesteinâ. A (semi-) recent recording of him is this one:
Itâs not the most difficult song to play, however it does contain a Cm chord in the chorus which makes it for me not able to comfortably play. I can sing it with all my heart though :).
Fun fact: Chris Martin from Coldplay did a (short) rendition when Coldplay played in The Hague.
I donât have a favourite team anymore but still follow so it would be Sweet Caroline but havenât tried to play it. At least in England lots of people would know the words and sing along.
Hec, @DeltaTyne letâs have a video /recording if you master Going Home/Local hero. Itâs such a beautiful melody.
Not a follower of football Iâm afraid but I know Oxford United fans have a rather derogatory song about rivals Swindon Town to the melody of London Bridge Is Falling Down.
Michael Iâm not a follower of football. The only football related song I ever sung was this one from World Cup 1990 - I was 10 years old back then and we kids used to sing it all the time. I should learn it on the guitar, maybe next World Cup games.
We moved to the Watford area in '63 and my neighbour started taking me and my brother to home games for the 63/64 season, I was 7 at the time. I still try to follow them now, 62 years later, via match highlights on YouTube. Brother lasted about 2 seasons !!
Coincidentally, Watford F.C. adopted the theme tune from Z-Cars in 1964 (many will have to Google that some wonât) as it was the managerâs - Bill McGarry - favourite television programme and its been played as the players come onto pitch ever since.
Can I play it ? Nope and I would not know where to start.
Everton/Toffee supporters can reference this post, as they were also using the Z-Cars theme, which I think also has an actual âmusicalâ song title. Been way too long since I knew what that was and as a kid who grew up watching the old cop show, it remains Z-Cars for me.
There were also numerous songs about Luton FC (nearest rivals in the 60s, 70s and 80s) but most would need a PGA warning !
Well Toby, I was curious enough to look for the Z-Cars theme song and found this compilation. Undoubtedly there is something here from your youth that belongs on your song list.
@Prof_Thunder@mfeeney0110
Ah yes the Dr Who theme, I watched the very first episode as a child and virtually all until a few years ago when I felt it lost its way. The music has changed over the years but only by a small amount, still very recognisable.

My father took me to my first match in April 63 we beat Portsmouth one nil and I think Z Cars was used then for the teams coming out. A couple of seasons ago they had one of theme of looking back in history and they came out to Z Cars and the younger ones around me looked totally non plussed and I felt obliged to explain it to them.
As you say there are plenty of chants by a certain set of supporters based on songs about our local rivals which are not repeatable here.
