Trying to do something more than just strumming, so I tried Drive by REM. It all went a bit wrong right at the end, but not many people will get that far!

Ah, another decent REM cover.
Love this song.
You play it well- nice picking/strumming ![]()
Vocals are good too, but I still don’t think you have the balance right (Guitar needs to be more prominent for my taste)
I was almost disappointed things didn’t go more pear-shaped in the end…

Cheers @brianlarsen. Yeah - I’m still getting the hang of OBS and trying to get levels right.
Hi Colin,
Damn good I say. Great song from great times, loved that changed between the strum and pick and thought you played it really well
.
Yes, I’d agree I would like to have had a touch more guitar volume and also a bit of effect on the vocal maybe just a bit of reverb. But, great job:clap:![]()
Thanks @CD02. I’ll investigate the forum to see how i can record with OBS via Reaper so i can use effects
Don’t have time to watch just at the moment, Colin, but I did see this comment about using fx and integrating with Reaper.
I suggest a better option is to consider applying the fx in OBS. If you look at the menu options on an audio source you will see near the bottom ‘Filters’. This is how to add fx in OBS. And if your Reaper is setup with all the available fx downloaded, then you can point OBS and include those fx provided by Reaper in OBS.
Things can get a bit tricky syncing the audio and video with Reaper in the chain. Some time back we thought we had it all figured out then things started to go a bit wonky.
So for simplicty sake, I’d try the OBS Filters route first.
Brilliant- thanks @DavidP !!
Well done Colin Great job mate cheers HEC
Hi Colin,
Classic track.
Sounds good, but to echo Brian purely on the production side - vocal a bit boomy/loud vs the guitar.
I’ve never mixed live performances so not sure on the fix that way. I tend towards recording individual tracks and mixing them afterwards.
I’d be looking at some eq on the vocal and reverb for a bit of atmosphere.
Still, nice work.

Thanks for listening @DeltaTyne
Cheers for the feedback and advice @Digger72 - much appreciated!
Your picking is very good and overall so is everything else: strumming and vocal. Very worthy Colin. Wierd lyrics though!
Blame Michael Stipe for the lyrics!
Thanks for listening and the kind words @Willsie
I do!
Well done Colin, classic song. I enjoyed the pick/strum style which along with a good vocal made for an enjoyable listen.
Cheers @sairfingers! Much appreciated!
Hi Colin,
That’s, how I do it and I followed the following from Toby that looks quite involved but wasn’t too tricky in the end.
It allows me to add any effects to the individual guitar and vocal tracks prior to recording in OBS. I don’t know if I’m over complicating this process but it works fine for me for now.
I didn’t know effects could be added in OBS David🤔. Can you apply them to individual tracks though?
Yes, Craig. In fact my biggest challenge/wish is that OBS had a Master that you could work with. To date, I’ve not found a way to work on the overall mix.
Cheers @CD02 and @DavidP. I did some searching last night and found this way to go to OBS via Reaper - Open Mic Tech Talk (Advanced) Connecting Reaper, OBS and Zoom Using Reaper ReaRoute - #2 by Elixir1253
The support and advice in this community is fantastic.
