Dutchie saying Hi - hello from Frans near Amsterdam

Frans here, and I gonna tell you about myself today.

My name is Frans. I live near Amsterdam in the Netherlands. Amsterdam. The city of fun and new and experimental music. Paradiso is legendary. I used to frequent.

As a former bass player in a band, I joint the Justin site. After all. If you can play a bass. You know all, and should be able te play a guitar after a few lessons, right?

Well not exactly.

Give me a bass and I will play along with you. Give me a guitar and my fingers won’t go where I want them to be.

Great laugh to see Justin struggle left handed. It seems similar to my guitar journey.

Many thanks Justin. I am definitely considering participating in the donation program.

Welcome to the Community, Frans. There are several folks here learning bass as well…don’t be surprised to get some questions if they learn about your background! And don’t be shy to ask folks here about guitar. Everyone is very helpful. Hope to see you around!

Welcome to the forum Frans

Welcome Frans!
Wishing you good success!

Hi Frans, welcome to the community forum. Al least you should be comfortable playing bass riffs on a guitar. I am not a bass player, but I understand the 4 lowest pitch strings on a guitar are the same notes as a bass, but one octave higher in pitch.

Welcome Frans. Fingers do often have a mind of their own. Being a bass player, you have a head start in that you probably understand the basic theory behind the guitar. Over time, the fingers will listen and go where you want them.

Hoi Frans ,
Welkom hier and I wish you a lot of fun :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Behind the scenes there is a small and dedicated team who work to make the JustinGuitar experience as good as it can be. Check out the Onboarding sessions provided by Fanny. Justin also has a small group of Approved Teachers he recommends for people wanting 1-to-1 lessons to supplement his courses.

That is plenty to be going on with. It is a vast community space so if you need help as you find your way around just ask.

Welcome Frans! Greetings to Amsterdam!

Hi Luna, Thanks for the positive feedback. It seems I am not the only one struggling. I am still working on it. On the bass the frets are wider and the string spacing is also wider. How do I get 3 fingers on 1 fret without touching other strings? A chord e.g!

Thanks for your positive feedback Frito.
Strumming and reading sheet music are no secrets to me. But I think I need to seriously talk to my left hand. It doesn’t seem to do what I want it to do…
Practice and persevere.

Hi Roger, 1 1/2 jaar voor op mij. I’m at module 1 lesson 5. How is it going after 1 1/2 years? Are there more Dutchies here? Maybe we can organise a jam session somewhere?

LOL, that one was tricky for me, in fact my 2nd finger really doesn’t want to jam itself between the other 2. My A chord sounds ok though so, just keep trying.

HI, you are correct. I was trying to say that the guitar was one octave higher in the four lowest pitch strings.

Hi Frans,
I think you just clicked on the avatar and read the first line… last March 1 it was 5 years ago my daily guitar trip started and I knew it would last a long time.
There are 2 compatriots close to me but not active on the forum, just here and there, but not many, most live abroad, still a handful…
Oh yes, come together to play, who knows, it is not easy for me to go somewhere with all my stuff, but here or somewhere else it will definitely happen with two or many people :grinning_face_with_big_eyes: :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Greetings
