End of the 'Aerosmith' era

this was my first musical experience Steven Tyler…no idea this was a put together group of 2 bands the first few months :sunglasses:

The man had unique vocal cords :smiley:and this has been examined more than once by scientists

Funny, my brother-in-law mentioned it this morning. Sad that it is forced due to Tyler damaging his vocal chords. I guess for us of a certain generation and liking for music of the 60s & 70s we should get used to this. Must surely become more and more common given the age of these artists.

Bummer man I bet she is dissapointed. I am trying to get as many shows in now. A lot of bands are cancling shows and even worse just hanging it up. Mike Ness of Social Distortion had that Cancer scare, NOFX on the final tour.

Also I totally remember the Run DMC and Areosmith tour 89 or 90 I think.

That was a great area too.

Sad but at least they’re doing the honest thing and haven’t taken to miming.

As @DavidP says there’s a lot of the bands that I listen to have been performing for 40 or even 50 years now. For example, if in 1984 you’d have told me that Metallica would be still selling out arenas around the world in another 40 years I’d have thought you were mad. I guess this is a reminder that if there’s a band on tour that you want to see, go see them on this tour if you can because the future is not guaranteed!

If you have a ticket that is quite $#@, I had that with Cary Moore when he was supposed to play at a festival in my hometown…but I see it as anyone who has had 40+ years of success as the lucky onesamong the artists… and In this case he can still enjoy his retirement :sunglasses: he should consider himself lucky

Greetings

I saw them in the late 70s at the Boston Garden (I’m a Massachusetts boy). I can’t remember who was the opening act (Rick Derringer, maybe?).

My first real rock concert and I enjoyed the hell out of it. The raw sound of their first album still hits me as “the way rock should be”.

A few years ago, my wife and I were in Las Vegas when they were doing a residency there. On a whim one afternoon, I looked for tix for that nights show and found two in the upper section at a discounted price. It was a small venue, so the upper level were great seats. While I was never a big Aerosmith fan, I like a lot of their hits and they put on a great show that evening. I’m glad I had the chance to see them before it was tool late.

My friends just were on the Stones. Back in 76, I thought Aerosmith was it due to their singer (sorry Mick!).
Vocal cords in the right person is just like the best sounding guitar of decades past.
Those instruments that are amazing eventually fold up, but only due to their greatness which was a creation of balance versus a fragile nature.
We were blessed to hear them and can always remember that fantastic sound.
Thank you Steven, and maybe your mom and dad, too.
