Hi Neil, that is not bad at all mate go check us lot out, we are on a thread for Blim cheers HEC
Thanks Delta. I’m new to the forum but not to Justin on YouTube. I’m on the waiting list for BLIM so fingers crossed
Well nice to meet you mate I’m on it now so I can honestly tell you that, it’s a brilliant course I can’t believe we are nearly at the end of month 4 already, I along with others are really enjoying it, so if you like blues you will like Blim cheers my name is Hec I need to edit my profile I think cheers
Nice to meet you too. Thanks for the welcome
Is there a specific BLIM section in the forum? I’m not too familiar with the layout and see various discussions when I Google but I can’t find a specific area or category when browsing here. Would love to be involved in the BLIM community while I wait my turn!
Cheers
i think if you just go to the community and scroll down you should see on the bottom right Blim I don’t think it is private but I may be wrong somebody will soon come to our aid I’m new here myself, well I keep saying that but I am getting better as I have been here a couple of years now cheers Hec
once there if you go down you should see challenge #2 thread maybe try it see what happens Neil
Hec
The BLIM area of the community is only accessible to those who signed up for Class 1.
@Enky08 Some impressive playing there Neil. Welcome to the Community.
Guess you have a little experience looking at your YouTube Channel.
If you are contemplating signing up for BLIM Class 2 make sure you check out the playing expectations/levels and maybe take a look around Justin’s Grade system before. I think a few folk signed up for Class 1 without the required level and its a lot of money to splash out if you don’t make the grade for starting.
I’d also recommend dropping in HERE and introducing yourself and what brings you to the Justin Guitar Community.
Thanks for that Toby cheers
I’d say that’s a good improv Neil. Think you’ll enjoy BLIM.
Hi Toby
Thanks a lot!
I started playing August 2023 following Justin’s beginner course pretty religiously until around the end of grade 3 before going off on tangents everywhere. Not sure where I’d place myself on the grading now, can do alot of things poorly and not much well!
I didn’t realise I was applying for a part 2, I assumed it would just be the same course but for the next batch of students. I doubt I’d make the grade for pt2 and would be much more comfortable starting from the ground up. I’ll have a look though
Thanks for the welcome I’ll post in the newbies section. Hoping to learn as much as possible and hopefully collaborate with others as I don’t really know many other musicians.
Cheers
Neil
Neil not Part 2 but Class 2. Same course but new batch of students. Though I think Justin might be considering a future BLIM course that carries on from where this left off (ie the next level).
If you have done Grade 3 and dabbled in the Intermediate area as well, you should be more than up for it. Its full on, loads of content and need some dedication for those 6 months. Personally I have been having a blast with the first 4 Units of 6 and feel my overall playing has come on leaps and bounds. So for me value for money !
Sounds right up my street! I usually play at least a couple of hours a day if not more so plenty time to dedicate to it!
Fingers crossed I get a spot.
Cheers
Neil
Well played. This was wonderfully musical improvisation: you seemed very in control.
Brian
Hey Neil,
Great, cruisy improv there mate.
You’ve got a good’ feel’ for the Blues rhythm; makes a huge difference.
From what I see of your pentatonic playing, and a few little moves you’ve done here and there, I’d say your going to love the BLIM course. You’re certainly ready for it. Its a tremendous course.
Cheers, Shane
Tasty phrasing, I hear that you understand how to phrase “words” together.
My main feedback is about technique, rather than your phrasing and blues concepts.
I think you need to ease down on the force you are movign your fingers with; both from as back to the fretboard. It makes you sound a little staccato and your fingers go flying off the board a bit.
It will benefit you, more than only your blues improv!
@beejay56 thank you Brian, kind words!
@sclay cheers Shane, means alot. Fingers crossed for the course!
@LievenDV thanks Lieven, surprised to be complemented on my phrasing/musicality as that is where I felt I was lacking! As for the technique that’s great feedback thank you! I’ve actually watched the video in the past but didn’t keep it in my routine, good to refresh it now and I’ll stick with it going forward
Cheers guys, great company here
Hello Neil,
I cant give you any advice, because I am still beginner, but I just wanted to tell you are playing really good. Ideal for enjoying evening by fireplace, even in TV with some nice drink.
Listened to whole record, one day I would like to be able to play this.
Hi Neil,
Playing for a year and a few months, even with a fair amount of practice every day , pretty good Keep up the good work, you’ve already received the tips, so I’m left with aplause
Greetings,Rogier
Hi Neil, I can tell that the 2 hours of practice per day have really produced good results. You must have spent a fair amount of time already working on blues improv. Good luck with the BLIM class whenever you are able to attend. I am just finishing up grade 3 and will focus on blues next year. I am deferring taking the BLIM class for a while, so I will leave my spot to you
