Wonderful: well played and well sung. Great lyric and spot-on accompaniment. Heard echoes of Johnny Cash’s version of Hurt. Your song is similarly haunting. I really liked this.

That’s a nice song, Clint. Your voice mixes very well with the sound of the acoustic guitar. The moody background image adds to the overall atmosphere. Glad I lurked in here…

excellent song with a fragile but hopeful mood. always interesting to hear 2 different emotions go together.
Good structure and guitar work as well.
Sweet balance hum strum, singlenotes, singing, an occasional hum…
my only constructive feedback, if I may; the story doesn’t move much. it’s the same message being told from beginning to end, with different applications and flavours.
That’s not because the “once in a while” pattern because repetition is a proven structural feat.

Marvelous Clint, stripped back and raw and compelling.
We all need the once-in-a-while moments in life.
Many of us could do with some steady rain as we see outside the coffee shop too, dampen the heatwaves and wildfires !!
I’m going to add another song, not because it is a sound-alike but because it is mining a similar theme and it popped into my head … Bob Dylan’s Most Of The Time.
Not that your song needs a comparison to be appreciated - it is a fine song, period.

I would like to think that the song is hopeful and introspective. Don’t let every little thing get under your skin because things are going as planned even with all of the distractions. There are things that pop up that take us off track —but from time to time we get things right.
That said, it really isn’t a story but more of an introspective song. I looked up examples of introspective songs and came away with a few titles:
Landslide - A look at aging and changing paths
Wish you were here - About inner loss and regret
So yeah, there’s no beginning, middle or end, but more of a stream of consciousness. Musically and vocally this is the acoustic MVP version.

Another analogy is that each verse in both your and fleetwood Mac’s song is a path of the mind coming to a same conclusion.
Of course there are many (succesful) songs without a change or revolution in them. In those cases the music plays a bigger part in taking listeners on a journey and the music, melody and vocal melody dynamics create a more dynamic songs.
That doesn’t mean I don’t like your song. Au contraire. I like the connection of lyrics and music in this song. The hope literally rises in your verse (vocal melody) , you prolong some syllables and you wrap up some sentences in a nice stable way, symbolizing some inner peaces within your searches. As the song says… “once in a while”.
It was a song of which I thought: “I see myself singing this live”
