I’ve loved finding out that I don’t have to play every note of the chord while finger picking to get to the next one & changing one string to go to the next chord. I keep trying to incorporate everything which makes me better, but tends to slow me down a bit. I’m 82 & I play for hours on end & love the whole process.

All I can say is I do have SOS & I’m pretty good with Old Faithful. But when I found out I could finger strum along with the finger picking, that’s the direction I headed. I’m 82 & only learned finger picking 60 years ago & it stuck with me. And, I like to sing along; I know, it’s scary. Anyway, when I strum (& my songs r the 60’s & 70’s) I do feel like I’m trying to pat my head while rubbing my stomach when I attempt to strum! Finger picking along with Justin’s app is my greatest warm up!

I’ve been going fast, faster & fastest for almost 2 years now, but following Justin’s lead but incorporating the finger picking instead. And I’m in love with the finger strumming!

I wouldn’t been able to express it better with words…this is a very important concept…it just takes so little to free yourself from tabs fingerings, just playing and let the music flow instead of constantly have to remember the notes…and create patterns with the fingerpicking hand that you can repeat.
I will quote this, the exact words you used, in my next AVOYP…because it clarifies a lot what actually is happening when I’m playing and it will be very useful for other people.
No, never…but then… say I’m playing a F chord and within it I feel free to experiment and hit a B note…then what I hear triggers imedetely my theory knowledge telling me a C note really would sound better!
