I find it very difficult to use ‘A’ chord fingering on the higher frets. Difficult to get three fingers in that fet. Any ideas?
Hi again Peter!
I’m very familiar with the problem you describe… one method is to use a single finger to bar the 2nd, 3rd & 4th strings… I can’t recall which lesson Justin mentions this but he does recommend the 3 finger method for “anchor fingers”… later on - when you get to barre chords - you will be doing this for A shape barres. It often helps to have the single finger A chord in your toolbox!!!
Good luck!

Hello Peter,
Think this maybe quite a common issue. I presume you are forming the barre chord with root off the 5th string? I have the same issue getting 2, 3 and 4 finger to fit so I tend to barre strings 4,3, & 2 with my 3rd finger, if you dampen the 1st string with your 3rd finger it does not matter as you are still forming the A chord shape higher up the neck. For example in the D chord below where it shows 2, 3, & 4 fingers you would barre with your 3rd finger at fret 7.
Thanks… Good ideas.
Great ideas above. I fret the A major open chord with 2 fingers straight down. Easier than cramming my fingers together.
