Finished Stage 2, again

Well I’ve just completed the Beginners Course 2. I did Justin’s entire beginner course 10 years ago, but probably rushed a lot of it.

I listened to him saying take a good 2-3 months of consolidating before starting on Grade 3. That makes sense. I’ve struggled with a goal, overall. I just like playing.

So my plan now is:
10 playable songs by memory. (Mad World is almost there)
Wish You Were Here playing along solos with the record
15 minutes a day on whatever Yousician throws at me (can I say that here?:rofl:)
Learn notes on E and A string solidly.
Investigate - ok, play with - Garageband and Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 and the Shure SM47 LC mic I got for Xmas. Will I be brave enough to post a recording? Well that’s kind of why I’m posting, to try to hold myself accountable.
And buy a new guitar. (How did that sneak in there? :astonished:) Seriously just saw a beautiful PRS and feeling obsessive about it. PRS SE McCarty 594 Singlecut CH – Thomann United Kingdom

Hi Scott ,
That is great to read and learning those songs by memory is your best goal followed by

Record yourself, I would say… don’t wait a day… if you don’t feel confident enough, just watch and listen without posting it here (although there really is no risk involved… believe me 100% )…
Listening to yourself is a little bit shocking  eye-opener for anyone I’ve heard from all the best guitarists when they remember this

it is THE way to quickly make major improvements …

Well here is somebody well motivated :+1: go for it, Scott nice to meet you

cheers HEC

Cheers Hec. I’ve had a few ups and downs with motivation over the years, usually hitting it hard for 6 months and then slacking off. This time feels different.

I was the same Scott, exactly the same i have pushed myself this year so I might see you along the journey mate cheers HEC

Hi scott,

Kudos for finishing!
I think you deserve that gorgious guitar

Hi Scott!
Good plan, good goals & a beautiful guitar you’re considering! PRS SE line is, in my experience, very good quality & great sound - especially for the price! I have the Zach Myers model & haven’t regretted anything about the purchase!!! As a matter of fact, the guitar you’re thinking of except in the Black Gold finish may very well be next for me (if I can figure out a way to sneak another one in… hee hee  !!!), I think they are really great instruments!
Good luck with everything - keep it fun!!!

Did my first recording after spending most of Saturday morning playing with Focusrite and associated software. Listening to yourself is certainly sobering. I have a ways to go before I’d be happy enough to share. Once I start trying to sing, all my timing goes to pot.
Ah well, onwards and upwards!
