I just watched a video on singing by Justin and when he mentioned the community feedback area i had to come here and upload something for feedback!
Im 39 years old, played guitar since i was 12 … only recently got into playing acoustic and although ive written songs for most my life ive only really recently decided to actively write solo stuff and work on my singing and playing
This is a recent song i wrote called “The boy I used to be”

Yes the guitar is tuned in an open C tuning (CGCEGC)… or maybe C# i dont quite remember which RN… Its a little low for my voice in places but it helps me to open up my lower and higher vocal registers and not sit in a mid range comfort zone!

Well, it shows that you’ve been playing guitar and writing songs for most of your life 
You obviously know your way around the fretboard. You have a good voice, sing in tune and with expression.
You have a ‘presence’ 
It sounds like a well-crafted song (although, it’s not the kind of music I usually listen to, so will leave it at that).
I’m surprised you don’t have more of you playing on your YT channel. Folk with your chops would usually share a lot more. Are you on a different platform?
Whatever the case, what an impressive entrance to the community!

I dont have any other platforms tbh… ive only been back into songwriting seriously for around 6 months or so and im massively self critical so other than a couple of FB posts I haven’t had the confidence to upload more of my songs tbh
Maybe this will be the start of more YouTube uploads!
I think of it as ‘objective’ rather than kind 
If you’re self-critical, sharing publicly is probably the best way of dealing with that. You’ll get lots of positive encouragement here
Regarding feedback, folk are less likely to be ‘picky’ or tell you what they don’t like, as you are far ahead of most of us here.
How much you get out from the Community will depend on how much you put in.

Congratulations Ben, it’s really good. I like it. Your vocal style reminds me of a band I was hearing a lot on the radio in my youth. I don’t remember if it was Foo Fighters or another one. Keep it up ! See you around in the community

I started writing mainly for myself as a form of therapy and dealing with my adhd … Its now slowly turning into something Im more happy with from a songwriting standpoint
My main goal is just to put out music people can connect with which i guess means ill need to lean into some form of live performance soon…been toying with the idea of doing a local open mic night but id be pretty nervous hahag

Yeah i dont really know what style my music is… I love a lot of alternative and post hardcore rock bands and more recently i like some country stuff too so i guess my vocal is influenced by a lot of that!
