First time ever singing in public - Open Mic #1

Here’s a recording of me singing an original tune that I posted in the originals section of the justin guitar website a little while back, and then an 80s pop cover. I did these at open mic night a couple of days ago and the people there made the experience great.

At the 2:00 mark I took out about 30 seconds of me completely forgetting the lyrics to my own song . I’m not embarrassed by it, it just went on so long I didn’t think I should make you all sit through it. The crowd was more than understanding. While playing the rhythm part, I said “have you ever forgotten the words to your own song?”…the crowd gave me a very loud “YES!”. It was a terriffic event and I plan to go back.

Thank you for the kind words! It was my first time singing in public at all, actually, but i practiced a lot beforehand and recorded myself so i could critique my practice performances. Even wiith all that prep i still forgot lyrics!

My goal is to eventually play some closed mic dates!
