First time putting myself out there - Anything by Adrianne Lenker :)

Thank you Jon! My cats (one in video is Pepper) always falls asleep as I’m playing, can’t tell if thats a good or a bad thing?? Thank you for your encouragement!

Thank you so much! Oh I hear you entirely on getting worse while recording, it’s somehow like we’re all connected in that sense

I think what helped me with fingerstyle and singing is two steps -

  1. really understanding where my fingers line up with the beat, usually the thumb on the down beat and I’m trying to automate what the other fingers are doing inbetween. Practicing with a metronome helps immensely!
  2. I then try and see where the words align with the fingerpicking. I first start with singing only the word on the downbeat. And then add in words as I get more comfortable  would love to see what you have going on!

Thanks! I think I have the picking down well, it’s just finding how to fit the verses in with it like you mention on #2. I think that’s a great idea, I’ll give that a shot - thanks!

I’ll let you know when it’s done - it’s Don’t Think Twice it’s Alright by Bob Dylan. I still need to work out the vocal melody portion so I’m not totally off-key, but maybe that doesn’t matter as much with Bob Dylan.

Love Bob Dylan! I could never sing/time it like he does. I’ll upload a version of “Tomorrow is a long time” sometime over the weekend. It’s my own rendition, might be of some help!

Good luck and I hope to see you get it down soon

Exceptional Abhishek, I didn’t know the song but you gave a lovely performance, I hope the path your on takes you out of your bedroom and on to other stages. You’re good enough to get there.

Very nice playing and singing. Thanks for sharing.

Hi, and welcome to the community, Abhishek. What an entrance, well done, my friend, your singing and playing are brilliant, cheers HEC

Amazing introductory performance! Well done!

Abhishek, the particular mic used will have no influence on this. But good to know.

To unpack further would be useful to know if it is a USB mic or connected via an Audio Interface. Perhaps irrelevant.

What will determine this is the audio driver on whatever device you are connected to that is recording the audio.

For example, if plugged via a USB into a phone or tablet and recorded with the device’s camera app that picks up from its audio driver, you may be receiving a default mono signal that is recorded by the app as mono and defaulted left.

If it were me I’d be recording via an Audio Interface and a webcam using OBS. But again the same applies ie check the driver and recording app config to make sure it is receiving the mic signal and recording it as stereo.

Feel free to share more details if this doesn’t make sense and you’d like to dig deeper.
