Floor mic stand help

I’m looking for some advice from more experienced people with microphone stands. I’m looking for a decent floor stand with a boom feature. What are the advantages and disadvantages of tripods and circular/heavier discs? Is plastic ok, or am I better off going with metal? I want something that is easy to use, adaptable to various situations, can hold a mic at guitar level while sitting down in a standard chair to record, or adapt for standing as well. I’m wanting it more for recording sound than voice, not that the stand has anything to do with that. I’m not against spending a bit more if I’m going to get something that will last vs. buying on the cheap and either being sorely disappointed or having to send it back. I also don’t want to overdo it as I just play for my own amusement.

I have a collection of cheap wobbly mic stands, each bought thinking they would be better than than last one. About 6 months ago I decided to get a decent one. K&M (König & Meyer) are an industry standard - quality kit that will last. I would recommend them in a heartbeat.

I use a cheap as chip mic stand from Thomann

https://www.thomann.co.uk/fun_generation_mic_stand.htm

It is low enough to use when seated and not extended but great for standing as well.
I have used it for both dynamic and heavier condenser mics without problem.
The only advice I would give when extending the boom, make sure it is directly over one of the legs, to act as a counter balance.

And as I can rarely be bothered to store my stands out of sight, it tucks in perfectly under my “studio” desk, next to the PC.

Crikey that is cheap! Hard to go wrong at that price tbf, although I won’t be needed another anytime soon. My wobbly ones are relegated to webcam duties these days.

I have gotten my stuff from On-Stage stands

I really like them. They are sturdy, made of metal and they have lots of accessories. You can see the one i use all the time hooked up. Thats for tablets phone and battery pack. I use it for 2 phone. One for scrolling my music the other for recording. Also my trumpet stand, i can afix it to the mic stad as well. Everything sort of goes togeather too. Kind of like legos. None of it is terribly expensive. Sold on Amazon and a bunch of other places.

They sell all styles of bases and other stage gear also.

Edit i forgot to upload my photo, I am a door knob. Sorry about that. So here it is even though you already found one. Lol

Thanks to everyone who responded for their input. I had found a few mic stands online that looked like they would suit my purpose and in my price range, only to see that most of them were returned by customers for various reasons. I finally found one today that I hope will work and last a while. Price was most reasonable and it had the boom mic setup plus an added feature that will allow me to place a tablet or iPhone on it as well.
