Song about my father living on in his grandchildren. I had a hard time singing this one without getting choked up. I did add a second guitar track to it; not always in sync, but I figured good enough to post.
Just beautiful my . For me mesmerising progression and picking, great lyrics and I really liked the little add in guitar track.
I have some lyrics of mine that I’ve been trying to put into a song and if it comes out anywhere half as good as this I’d be happy.
Beautiful song and great performance, thanks for sharing, Jay.
Lovely song, a lot of emotion coming from your playing and singing. I love the second guitar layer. Well done Jay!
Beautiful heartfelt song, great composition and musicianship!
It makes me very happy to hear and see others doing their own thing instead of just doing covers, especially when there’s a special motivation behind the subject.
It gets a 12/10 from me, just beautiful!
Jay
Well played and well sung.
Brian
Beautiful song Jay and you performed it very well.
All so well done and a very beautiful tribute.
That is so very beautiful! And soothing for the soul.
Love the personal aspect of your songs, Jay.
You make music for all the right reasons, and yeah… when you’re gone, your family and friends will play these songs and cry
Enjoyed the second guitar too. Are you gonna ask Santa for that Trio+?
(Trivia: Lego comes from the Danish ‘Leg godt’, which means play well )
Very nice, enjoyed that. Guitar picking really compliments the singing. Well done
Tnank you, Ali.
Thank you, Brian. I don’t know any other way to write songs. And I did get that Trio+ on Reverb.
Never knew my dad. He had a one night stand with my mom, because she felt lonely, because her husband was in jail at the time. He also had a family of his own with 2 kids. Can’t relate.
But it sounds like your dad was a great guy. Good for you. The guitar was pretty clean. I liked it. Would never listen to it again. (For personal reasons.)
Hey Allax, I’m really sorry to hear that. Sounds pretty rough. It wasn’t all roses with my dad. He became an alcoholic when I was in jr. high and high school. I worked for him painting houses, but by the summer before my sophomore year in college, my mom kicked him out. I went to live with him for a while, and I had to try to keep his business afloat while he was lying in his apartment passed out. He then met another woman in the hospital, got into treatment, and turned his life around.
Thanks for your reply! I might have gotten a bit emotional in my response but this always happens if I hear songs about mothers or fathers. You only get one of each, it’s tough.
I also might have misunderstood the lyrics a bit. English is not my first language and now that you gave me a little bit more context, I seem to grasp more of what’s going on in the song. Listened to it again. I know I said I wouldn’t but I always do, because one day you like a song and on the next day you don’t. But I want to make sure that my comments are at least somewhat fair/objective.
It gave me the chills, man. I still like the sound of the guitar and your voice is pretty good too. Very enjoyable.
Hey Brian, finally started playing around with the Trio Plus. I’ve been away from Justin’s lessons for too long because I’ve just been trying to develop a repertoire of songs to play and sing in public. So now I’m using the trio plus by starting with a simple chord progression in the key of Am, recording it on the Trio, playing it back, and then coming up with simple licks using the Am pentatonic scale, and keeping track of the notes I’m playing. I’m finding this a useful way to learn the notes up the neck with my fingers rather than just in my head (something that has always been difficult for me). Plan is to expand this to multiple shapes and keys in order to get the notes of the entire fretboard under my fingers.
Excellent, Jay, I’m so glad you’re enjoying it.
It’s such a versatile little box. So many different uses.
I think it’s the closest you can come to ‘playing with a band’ on your own.
The main online criticism I’ve come across are the limitations in live performance use, but it’s not designed for that…
You should try it with one of your AVOYPs to see if you (or rather we) like the result
Good idea, Brian. I’ll post something.
