I posted the Martin OM-28 I got back in March in NGD. I’ve been happy with the guitar but felt it could be better. I change my own strings, adjust truss rods and have even made a new saddle before, but I’ve never made or filed a nut. That turned out to be mostly what I needed.
I took it to a luthier with 40 years experience in servicing and building guitars. He listened to me play for 10 minutes or so and asked me what I was hoping for. I left the guitar with him and picked it up 3 days later. Again, he had me play for about 10 minutes and then said, “Well?”. He already had his answer because of the look on my face and my saying, “oh yeah”, a half dozen times. That was the best $55 I ever spent.

That’s great news, Greg. I imagine the luthier’s work made the guitar even better than it was after the corrections you had made. Perfecting the instrument you pour your heart and soul into playing is always something extremely enjoyable. Well, the name Martin OM-28 already speaks for itself… ![]()
