Gday from Paul in Brisbane Down under

Hi all chiefhipdude (Paul) here.

1962 born, do i hear someone shout " hey boomer "

Living in beautiful sunny brisbane retired life means i have no excuse to practice the 6 string. My wife says it sounds so good when i stop. I’ll take that as a win right now.

Just like Justin i lived in beautiful Tasmania for several years. My hope one day is to travel to the remote Tasmanian wilderness armed only with my guitar and coax the legendary extict thylacine out of its hiding place. We will sit around the campfire both crooning to my songs that flow with silky cord changes.

I also aim to wow the Thylacine with Barre chords and some heavy power chords.
For your information: Thylacine is the real name for the extinct Tasmanian tiger. It looks like a dog but has tiger stripes! How unique.

Most people would have heard of the Tasmanian Devil as in Taz in Warner brothers cartoons. He is real and plentiful in Tasmanian Zoos.

I hope Justin reads this message and says Gday.

Heck, you’re a youngster. My baby brother was born in 62. My family almost perfectly defines boomer-hood; oldest brother born in 46, youngest in 62.

I actually knew that. Some think it might not actually be extinct.

Welcome to the community!

Welcome to the forum Paul

Haha welcome. Thats a fine introduction.

Enjoy your stay, I am glad you found you way into the community. Its great.

More Aussie’s! Glad to see another from Brisvegas too

Gday Paul.

Hi Paul,
Welcome here and I wish you a lot of fun :sunglasses:
Greetings,Rogier

Nice to meet you Paul cheers Hec

G’day Paul, quite a few Aussies lurking in this forum, welcome. I’m quite active with a music club on the Gold Coast, Coast Acoustics and lots of great acoustic stuff in Brisbane. The weekly BUG, Brisbane Unplugged Gig is at the New Farm Bowls club weekly, I’ve not made the Red Hill folk club. Have played at Folk Redlands and there’s a very active camping community in SE Qld with twice yearly camping musos weekends at the Woodford Showgrounds, at Maidenwell and at Mulgowie. Coast Acoustics also hosts camping musos weekends twice yearly at Spring Gully in March and August. Hope to see you at one of those some time? I’m just a wee bit older, a 58 model.

So Paul, when you coax that thylacine (I had to Google that one) out of the bush, do you intend to play your guitar and sing it a lullaby?

Hi Paul, welcome to the community forum.

Hi Paul.
Welcome to JustinGuitar and this fantastic community. Please take your time to look around and get to know the wider space. View by Categories.

We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.

Also, please make sure to read the Community Etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.

If you want to record yourself to show your progress and / or seek feedback there is our ever popular Community Recordings section.

Behind the scenes there is a small and dedicated team who work to make the JustinGuitar experience as good as it can be. Check out the Onboarding sessions provided by Fanny. Justin also has a small group of Approved Teachers he recommends for people wanting 1-to-1 lessons to supplement his courses.

That is plenty to be going on with. It is a vast community space so if you need help as you find your way around just ask.

Cheers. Richard
