Strap yourselves in for the before - it’s a long haul. I wouldn’t blame you at all for bailing after the 1 minute mark.
The improvements I see include a less frantic, more considered approach to lick selection. The “after” video is hampered by a current thumb injury, so I’m going to use that to explain away some howlers in the after video, but please be away that’s only a shameless excuse - this is a fairly accurate representation of where I am now. Lots of work still to do but I can see an improvement in my playing already and the fact that I am aware of all the many weaknesses I need to address and the road ahead means that BLIM has done its job of launching me on the path to become a better blues guitarist in the years to come.
Very impressive progress!
Tasteful selection of licks, but the most impressive improvements are - in my opinion - that you are playing much more in time and the bends are much more in tune. It sounds great.
Good to hear you’ve enrolled in BLIM. It’s a fantastic course and I learnt so much from it. Now begins the hard work though because although the course is really fun and structured in such a way that you can make solid, identifiable progress over the 6 months, the content as a whole is so all encompassing I expect to spend many years putting it all together, improving all the time. All that’s required is determination.
I’m just about to start the journey on BLIM 2 and super excited about it now. I only hope I can manage to show the same sort of progress that you’ve demonstrated there. Well done
You sound fantastic in both videos, Graeme, but you are definitely more sure of yourself and relaxed in the later one. What a great journey we’ve been on. Keep the good work going!
